One time spawn

Working on a DoD map, and I need a way to isolate and use one of the spawn points only once per round.
Call it,....The "prisoner" spawn point.
Whomever the lucky player may be, spawns in, - no weapons,(weaponstrip) and is shielded by invisible solids so the opposing team doesn't get trigger happy and kill the prisoner. The spawn point should be available only for the initial spawn at the beginning of the round, and should not be useable again until the prisoner is "rescued" or the round ends, and map restarts.
Allies must get the keys,(objective) - match to target,(door) and free the prisoner. I was thinking about a "killtarget" type of setup, but I havent tried it yet.
Any ideas, or suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks,
LB

Don't kill it cause it probably won't work in next rounds. Use Master and disable it after few seconds from start.

Sounds a bit like the start of dod_falaise.

See This thread: http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29794

See Mythic_Kruger post on the first page. I just don't know how you guarantee one player spawing as the prisoner.

btw ... what does the prisoner do when waiting to be freed?

couldn't you just use an initial_player_axis/allies ? it is a one time spawn at the start of each round i believe.

i dont know if thats the exact entity.. just a guess

siron's idea sounds right, but i'm no mapper;)

The idea in it self sound interresting, but wouldent like to be
the guy in the cage, that's gonna suck just standing there
waiting...

Haircut, ...thanks,..that is an excellent thread, and lots of very good ideas. I don't know if I'll do this or not at this point, but was wondering if it was possible,..I now believe it clearly is.
This is a "map to spec", and I am building based on the desired elements of the clan for which it is being constructed.
I don't much like prisoner / hostage maps either for the same reasons sited, ....too boring, or just plain annoying for the "lucky" player.
The methods described for isolating the spawn tho all sound pretty solid, and I think I can use them elsewhere.

Thanks
LB

info_initial_player_axis
info_initial_player_allies

They are old entities that no longer work in DoD.

yup ... but I guess they needed the entities for something else. Saying that I still think they are referenced are in the dod dll :kitty:

Okay, sounds like a good idea for a map but it would never work.
Allow me to tell you why, no one would ever sit in a cage for half an hour doing nothing but waiting to be rescued. Anyone who spawned into the cage would just switch teams or use console command "kill" to respawn again. Plus its pointless to have a teammate that cant do anything. Best you could do is insert a player model so it looks like someone is there or use a "barney".

food for thought.
