Many buildings from this era are still present now in Germany, France, Mid/Eastern Europe, so you can use modern pics, this way you will get color versions. Old color photos from WW2 era are very rare. For modern photos I use http://community.webshots.com (Travel/Europe), but it require some searching.

For B&W photos I can point big documentation of Warsaw Rising'44 (almost day by day) - here (http://wilk.wpk.p.lodz.pl/~whatfor/kris1.htm) (on bottom of page there are links to next chapters).
