I started making a new map after looking through all the map models. I saw the dead sniper model and thought he would look cool hanging from the top of a bridge so I put him up there with a Springfield sniper rifle. There is a tank and some barbed wire on the bridge and a boat in the river. I made the river way too wide, if you go to the end you can't see the bridge, so I'll have to make it about 1/2 as wide. I am going to add a very small city on each side, a few one or two story buildings and a lot of trees and a few pathways, hopefully get some good sniper fun in there. Ignore the fact that the bridge texture isn't aligned, I think the texture is temporary for now and I was getting lazy :)

Here are the pics:

My God, I never knew you could click and drag addresses to the address bar!!

BTW in-editor pictures aren't allowed... dunno why exactly.

It's a nice looking bridge, but how are the r_speeds?

I couldn't open the console because I forgot to add -console to my hl command line :^). I am going to recompile tonight and I'll tell you. They will be much lower once I delete some of the beach.

And there is an in-game shot so quiet you.

its not that they are not allowed, its just some people dislike looking at them, i on the other had could care less, keep it up, maybe change the lighting/textures?

I made the light too bright and too close to the bridge and the pitch directly down, I am going to make it shine away from the bridge and be a bit darker, hopefully I can get a nice shadow to cast on the beach. I want it to be a bright day map, makes sniping more interesting.

lots of texture work needed on the bridge, but other than that it could be sniper/MG heaven.

Haha, right from Xer's Mapping Forum Rules sticky.

Previews of maps must contain pictures of the map from in-game. Pictures from Hammer or a layout picture drawn with Microsoft Paint or any other drawing programs are not valid.

I won't huff and puff over it though. I'm just sayin'... :p

We don't like shots from hammer. Everybody can make brushes and texture them in hammer to get the most crazy combinations.
The challenge is to actually get the thing compiled and running in-game.

My obvservations.

it's a bridge... with a river... and a tank. Where's the rest of the map?? Seems to me this is a nice start for a nice map but it's far from finished. Maybe work 'till you got a part of it totally finished and compiled before sharing pics of it?

keep up the good work!! enjoy mapping!!!

Show us something when you have something more or less finished to show up. We don't want to see 20 threads with pictures from Hammer when only 2 of the maps actually gets completed...

So, in accordance with forum rules, I'm hereby throwing this thread in the brig. :)
