Hi guys, I was wondering if someone could to a reskin or remodel the Sten gun mark 5.
http://www.ferret.simonides.org/armament/sten5.jpg
That is the only picture I could find in my haste. but here is a description I found as well.
In 1944 an attempt was made to improve the Sten's public relations problem by producing a better version with a more robust and expensive treatment. The Mark 5 featured more care in the machining, a wooden stock, pistol grip, zeroable foresight and a bayonet.
It would be cool if you added the bayonet too!!!
Thanks for any help:)

So, something like this? (It's a hackjob, I just need to fix the wood textures.)
And can you get me a picture with the bayonet?

Why don't they hold it in the right place? I've ALWAYS seen the people shooting it from holding the magazine? Any chance we can get a re-origin of that?

im pretty sure that holding the sten by the mag is incorrect (for a number of reasons), despite what is seen in movies.

I'll work on getting Glimsharp's animations on it, after I finish my Brit Pack for 1.0. I made a render of the rest of it (since you can't see it ingame, unless you look at a p_ or w_ model). So here is the pic:

Holding it by the barrel is correct :)
I've heard that some guys even tilt the sten so that the mag is on a downward angle (like this -> \ ) because it causes less jamming or something :P
any chance of getting a foregrip on it? :D

Are you guys sure? that just doesn't seem right to me. oh well :)

The reason you dont hold it by the mag is cause when your start firing you naturally pull back on the gun to reduce recoil. Pulling back on the mag like this would either bend the mag reciever bit (sorry I only use rifles so dont know the name for it lol) or it would cause the bullet to feed wrong. I also heard holding it by the mag caused your fire to roll silently to the left.

the reson it was held by the barrel was simply cause you could snap the magazine clean of the reciever, buggering up the gun. most ppl did hold the sten so the mag was pointed downward, which would be way cool to have in DoD. also only 28rnds were loaded into the magazine, because although it could have 33 rnds, with one chambered, loading the sten like this would end up with it jamming constantly,

I slapped a foregrip on it and I'll make a pistol grip version in a minute.

looking good my man. we can have our own collecters hackjob/model thread, with various parts. the forgrip idea is cool. i think we should have som1 reorigin it and make it so the clip is facing downwards. like john doe said.

lol yeah. When i finish this model can someone mess with the animations so he acutally holds the fore grip?

Here's the pistol grip version. I'll probally make 4 version. Pistol grip and a version with bayonet + rifle stock and version with bayonet.
