Hi again guys.
youve all been very patient with me,but im having a problem setting up nems compiler to run my maps.

I set it up,and when i run the map,i get a fatal error message saying "could not find filesystem dll to load".

My half life path is set up like this:
programme files\valve\steam\steamapps\my email\day of defeat.

I know this is where the filesystem dll is as ive checked.

Another thing ive just thought.i extracted the mapping files i needed using gcfscape, into the sierra/half life/dod folder(btw,i created these files as i dont use 1.0 dod anymore...so the original folders where not there).Do i need to extract the hl.exe and filesystem dll file to here as well?
if so,would i then use these as my paths when setting up nems?

Thanks guys, and im sorry if it looks confusing.:D

Ummmm - I'm confused - are you saying you are trying ot run dod without steam using an old install of HL, or what?

ah ok - so you are trying to get nems to run dod when it's done compiling? If thats the case it sounds like theres a path thats set wrong ...

First off - Have you set up nems like described here:

Nems setup tut (http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis/index.php?c=32#p32)

Then secondly - are you sure that you've set up Hammer correctly - like described here:

MardyMouse Hammer setup tut (http://www.mardymouse.co.uk/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=3)

If you can't get nems to launch dod for you - just make sure nems is set to copy the compiled bsp into your dod/maps folder - then make a shortcut for dod on your desktop and in its properties dialog - make sure the target line looks something like this:

C:\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch 30 +map yourmap -dev -console -mp_flashlight 1 - particles 80000

The text in Bold is what you would have to add - the rest is allready put in there by steam when you ask it to create a shortcut - obviously replace "yourmap" with the name of your map ... Then you can run dod with your map immediately in dev mode by using that shortcut and bypass any probs nem might have with running steam for you ...

Lemme know if this helps you any.

I wrote BC way back before Steam was out. The Half-Life stage in the default specification is for the original Half-Life only, not Steam. You don't have to set up the Half-Life stage to compile your map but you can't launch Steam from it. There are a few specifications floating around there with Steam support.

I am working on a rewrite of BC to address the fact that the number of tools that have popped up (and consequently the number or permutations of these tools) has made the current specification format very hard to maintain. The new system will address this with a more robust specification format that will tailor to both beginner and advanced developers. It will be easier to maintain and update then the current system.
