looks a lot better. At least this one doesnt break my eyes.

I like the bit where you put straps into it, and where the stock compresses into the gun, looks pretty tasty.

i cant really comment on the sight but it looks ok to me, even if it isnt correct.

is there going to be a strap?
and if you make that greasegun not have that horrendous flap that folds up then i will call you god.

Frank that flap opens to allow the bullets to come out, thats how the gun was made, do you want the flap already opened or somthing:confused:

Richy
07-21-2004, 08:31 PM
personally i hate the flap. and the names richy haha. anyway, the i dont like how the anims open the flap just annoys me. if the flap was never there but instead just an empty slot if necessary then it would be fine. I hate flaps haha.

if you take a look at any of my releases that say "animations: (edits) pvtMalarkey", you'll find that they aren't that different from the original ones. For some i just opened the hand more and made the finger errrr in the right position (pistol whip) and for the soda can bazookas i just made them hold it in the reload :| :[ :/ :\ >_<

*edit*

polycount so far, no arms etc 3101. i havent deleted any unseen faces yet though.

looks great cant wait.

Trigger
07-23-2004, 05:22 PM
That's looking great, but 3101 polys seems a bit excessive, even without deleting unseen faces. Can we see it with a wireframe overlay?

HammeR [OwP]

Looks good, I'd like to see a high poly version of the greaser, because I use it often. I don't see many people use it much and I may even try to skin it....

Keep up the good work!:D

irfoist

it is large i guess but as you wanted, heres a wireframe render.

The rear of the wire stock could easily be toned down poly wise. You don't exactly see it ingame and you seemed to have sinked quite a few polies into it.

You should release one that doesnt have the flap lifted up and one that does. Cause I hate the flap haha.

MaRzY

Irfoist i would like to share with you a method i use to reduce polygons when making game models, which i think will help you to become a more efficient game modeler. Besides removing polygons that are hidden or unseen, we can also weld certain points together. I've made a little diagram (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/scitzo/polyreduce.gif) showing you what i mean, to help you understand me better. If i look at your wire frame pic, i can see you could use this method on the receiver, rear sight, handle etc. Please note though, when i do this in lightwave it leaves 2 point polygons within the model. These are easy to remove in lightwave though. as their not needed. So what ever program you use, you will have to look into weather these 2 point polygons get deleted automatically on welding, or weather you will need to remove them yourself. So take a good look around your model, and apply this method where you can.

ok thanks marzy for your expertise, im hopefully going to remove faces and weld vertexes today to try and get it on the 2500 - 2600 mark if i can.

richy i hate the flap too but tbh its part of the model and i cant animate so i cant make the flap not lift up.
