JEEESUS!
That sky ruins just about everything u'v made!
Change it ASAP!
And the tree's just can not look like that...sorry mate
but you have to find some models instead.
Just cant say much from those pics before that's changed,
it just dosent look right.
But dont give up on it though!:)
That sky looks friggin' horrible. Looks more like Counter-Strike than Day of Defeat.

That is the default half-life sky, nothing to do with CS

Well, I could imagine some billionaire's garden in middle of Utah but can't stand these trees, really.:-\

lol.. its a WIP.. dont you think maybe i havent got round to changing he sky yet...? :rolleyes:
i don think the tree look too bad personanly, and they block vis. I cant use models for all of the garden cos its too open

yeah agreed, the trees look like ass. In fact if you hadn't pointed out that they were trees, I wouldn't have known...
Definitely try to find a better solution for that... And you shouldn't try making open maps like this on HL1 anyway... I really don't see the point of making stuff all open and wide if that means having to completely sacrifice the looks of the map.
For some reason the map reminds me of a level in Rise Of The Triad. Anyone know that game ? Totally rocked via null-modem cable.

Loose the sky. I suggest making it a night map with a dark atmospheric lighting.
Perhaps a night time raid on a Nazio outpost/stronghold/hq to capture some documents or plant a bomb.
And use the tree models and maybe reduce the amount off trees in use.

Trees = Models, please.
Bushes = Models, please.

If you make the architecture less chunky, it won't look so cartoony.
This reminds me of 'Super Mario' on the old Nintendo (u know, the 1st one). But still, at least its better than cs_estate, which I was worried this was a remake of!!
Make the open areas smaller; OR break them down into separate areas. You also want to do it to the extent which will allow you to make the archictecture more detailed (ATM it looks sparse and bland).

If anyone has any vis blocking models id be very happy to put them in instead of the current bushes...

I changed the sky, thank god so many people pointed it out! :rolleyes:
Thanks for the constructive input CptMuppet, ive put the garden at different levels in an attempt to break it into sections, im gonna add walls and buildings if i need them.
I planned for this to be a night map, its good when its dark because the low view distance is less noticeable, the only prob im having is this attractive effect: http://img24.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img24&image=2799.jpg
Anyone know how to sort it out?
