a Pow map.
After researching the subject i found that POW camps are extremely large. making a full replica of one would put a strain on anyones computer. so I'm going to create my idea of a pow camp. it will be based as much on the real ones as possible but i need some suggestions.
1. How the hell do I get the grounds for victory? should it be having 3 people hold a flag outside the wire for 10 seconds? or should the allies storm the german command center? I'm not sure how to start this.
2. Tunnels?
3. Player strip with axis caches of weapons stored in underground rooms in barracks. How many caches?
4.Allies spawn in barracks spawn protection or no?
5.Where can I get the great escape theme song?
6. When building a barrrack how should I attack it? build the frame of a barrack and copy it furnishing each on individually?
Well this is my second attempt at mapping my last one died. I'm hoping this one will get out on the net.

you shouldnt of put in [WIP] in your topic. no pictures of previews. you just have a bunch of questions. all your questions seem to point to the fact that you are a noob mapper and are in need of tutorials :)

lol thanx for the support. I'm just wondering about the community's opinion before I add a bunch of features I think are cool. BTW I don't think that I'm a noob. I'm definately not an expert either. but I'm still learning. I would like to see more input. I will post screens ASAP and am sorry if I violated any rules in regards to calling this a work in progress. what should it be titled if I'm still working on it?

I recall there being a rule not to put a thread until you have something to show...at least not a WIP thread. It's frustrating to have to wade through threads of ideas. In fact there is a thread FOR ideas. There's limited space here. So any technical questions should go in the Q&A forum and the ideas in the ideas thread. Then when you've started and have some pictures to show make a WIP thread.

festung was ripped from Where Eagles Dare, wasn't it?
And I had an idea like this a while ago. The only problem is it isn't possible. You'd need some sort of script that says if the prisoner can be shot or not. And everyone's just going to prone under the stilts of the barracks and camp there anyway.
Trying to make a map like that would be very, very hard. As for objectives, my idea wasn't go give it objectives, but make it sort of a story map. There's a trigger like in Sven to go to the next map when the prisoners make it into the woods and then it goes to an "escape, damnit, escape" map. The point of that would be to dodge the Germans in the countryside and villages and whatnot and make it to a neutral country. Or in this case an Underground safehouse.

I'm sorry for violating rules. by the end of the day I will post pictures of the finished barrack.
having the barracks raised well historicallly accurate is not a good idea because people will camp under them. Axis will have a 5-10 minute timer and allies will have an area outside the camp to get 4 people to for a time of 10 seconds.
inside the barracks there will be lights that can be turned on via a lightswitch.

You can have the barracks raised, just make it so people can't get under them by either; 1) making them so low they can't get under or 2) having an invisible wall around the gap.

Well here is my ideas for this, if it was for DOD2 there could be motorcykles to escape on, but since it aint I suggest taking points from the film Harts War, where as the alies tried and did blow up an ammo dump near there pow camp, so you could make it like the alies have to blow stuff up from behinde enemy lines and yes I realise it sounds just like the feng map but to be honest thats the only way I see this kind of map working.
