What im saying is - if you put it a map youve been working on, people will need that dll in orer to see the avi in the map...

So im sure it worked, but nobody came and dled the map off you or anything - right?

Well, I suppose you could just include the DLL in the zip file. So at least if you d/l it from a website, then it'd work. Or maybe you could be sure the .res file mentions the DLL.

Good point - do Res/Sv_downloads set-ups discriminate on what files types you can send to the client?

Eek! Now theres a virus propagation medium waiting to happen. :(

It's open source and has to be implemented in any mod that plan to use this. It seems like it's very easy to include into any mod.
This can be developed to play like /media/movie.avi, I guess, instead of defining the entire path to the file. I'm no coder, but it could work :P .

* Certain game-crtical and/or dangerous files cannot be
downloaded (ie: *.exe, *.vbs, etc)

This is a quote from Steam forums. I bet all sort of .dll files are also ignored in this download method.

*phew* thats o.k then!

So I guess mods that use extra dlls either have to ship them as part as the default install or have them in the gcf.
