To get awesome looking tracers....

copy this into your autoexec.cfg file:

traceroffset 100
tracerlength 0.35
tracerred 1.2
tracerblue 1.0
tracergreen 1.0
traceralpha 0.45
tracerspeed 7100

It will make MG tracers look much cooler, especially over long distances, like in dod_charlie.

can you post a pic? does it change the color of the tracers at all?

i'm too lazy to get on a server and wait for an MG to fire at something, but here's what it does:

- makes traces white with a hint of yellow
- makes tracers much shorter
- makes tracers move faster

So what happens is, if someone is shooting at you across the beach on charlie, instead of one or two huge, thick, slow-moving, yellow lines, you get a bunch of very fast-moving, short, narrow, yellowish white lines

If you want to keep the same color, just leave the lines

tracerred
tracerblue
tracergreen

the same the original

It does exactly what he says it does and it looks damn good, that is unless they are coming your way, then I suggest that you duck quickly.

One of the nice things about these settings is that tracers no longer overlap, since they are so much shorter.

you cant capture the real look, you have to see those moving..I tried to take screenshots..but for some reason, they dont appear on my screenshots..maybe I was too slow -_-

Thumbs up! Everyone shd give these settings a try, and if u dont feel 'safe' about it, just add 2 slashes // in front of the default ones so u can get back to those if u dont like

It's tough to capture, in the shots where I got muzzle flash you will notice my fps drops to like 9, that is because you have to hit F5 as fast as possible for about 5 seconds and take 15 screens. Then find the ones that show them.

Yeah, I've been doing this for a while now, it makes a big difference in the feel of MG fire. Cool isn't it?

Always fun yo play with the colors now and then. Bright purple tracers, suddenly it's not WWII, it's a space battle with lasers. Hehe.

Purple tracers?

Pretty simple I think.

tracerred 1
tracerblue 1
tracergreen 0

Should be bright purple.

How about blue and pink muzzleflashes, like Unreal 2? ^_^

Kidding. ;)

I don't like my tracers too white, but they could use a little boost in speed. Thanks for reposting this, Doug.
