I have a new map I like to post.I need a server to take a look at my demo and or screenshots of map for evaualution.Or maybe I should be asking how do I go about getting my map posted.It's very evenly playable and strong framerate throughout map.

if possible, post screenshots on a website and put links to them here. also put a brief description of the map.

Take screens...reduce them using paintshop or some other tool to get them below 102KB and upload them here...800x600 medium-quality JPG's will probably come under 102KB

Map has a de_dust layout from CS :)somewhat.There is a sewer system and spawn invaders jail could not get the weapon strip to work in jail area though.There is a back passage ways and other exits from spawns as to prevent campers from ruining a good time,but still evenly layed out.

2 things - the pics are WAY too big.
and 2nd, it is EXACTLY de_dust - try to change it a bit ... make it more a dod like map ... scenery wise and game play .... it doesnt look real

I'm not too keen on the texture choices tbh
First: great it's your first map!! Be proud!! Everyone started of like that. It shows your determination to create something.
But...
your still far from being an experienced mapper like Waldo or Fuzz. These are some of the remarks I have:
* fix the lighting: too bright. Lighting can add HUGE amounts of atmosphere on map when used well and subtle.
* fix your textures: align them correctly. make sure you have enough variation in textures and don't make combinations that would be unlikely.
* fix your brushes: it's basically just a bunc of rectangular brushes. Try to master the vertex manipulation tool. Don't be afraid to experiment with triangles, corners, etc. Don't create a block, throw a texture at it and think you have made a kick-ass house. Try to check out some books to get the feel of the architectural design of the 1930/40/50.
I would also recommend to:
a. read up some tuts to learn the little tricks that can make a map look good. Try the VERC website (valve ERC). It contains loads of good tutorials on how to master hammer.
b. when you get in a game of DoD. Be aware of your surroundings. Check out the brushworks, check out how Waldo did the rubble on dod_caen for instance and try to learn from it.
c. practice, practice, practice, practice,.......
Now go out there and map!! ;)

looks pretty good to me.. maybe a bit bright tho
I dont think you can see enough of the map from the screen shots to say the textures and brushes need 'fixing' Inch.. especially as you dont know where its set. Its obviously not set in a bombed out area, hence the lack of rubble and odd shaped brushes.
The only thing thats strikes me visually is the lack of roofing.. for example, in http://img21.imageshack.us/my.php?loc=img21&image=dod_covina9.JPG the walls would look a lot better if they didnt just stop.

anyone remember, the original dod dust para dust mini dust, dust has been done, but do not let that stop you or discourage you, keep it up you will learn good stuff by doing it, and redoing, and then redoing it again, such is the lot of a mapper

Guys the brightness is my gamma setting in game so i dont hosed in a dark place :)but also it is a bright summer day.There is a underground sewer works not in pics and back passage.dust has no sewers or back passage ways or tank models or a cow.Anyway this was not ment to be a highly detailed time erra corect map just a fast fun little map dod style.Anyone ever play dod_legoisland not erra correct but still fun.Thank you for the textureing tips I will try the vertex tool more you are right it is a trickey tool for the noob mapper I am.Thanks guys for all the advice really but please don't be dusted off by the first look of the pics :).Just play it thats all I ask then say HEY DUDE IT SUX TRY AGAIN!!hahaha Like i say there is more to it and its only that bright cuz its summer and my gamma setting for the game.Thanks guys for the feed back.

Also we SCC will be putting a dod server up again so I will post there for trial run as well.SCC server will be up next week 6/10/2004 I will post a IP then if allowed here.

Hey man, I own/run BudZnetwork.com. I have no problem spinnin your map for you, or for any other new mappers :). We have a pub 20 man server, and a "training" 10 man. Hit me up at our site, or pm/email me. We're trying to get our name out there, and NO we aren't a clan :). So, if any mapper needs a place to beta test a map, please hit us up, we're always glad to help!

um...I suggest refraining from making comments like this until you've worked on DoD maps with Waldo. He has done a lot more than just scripting/entity work.
