Hello,
I'm bussy with a map for my clan lately, and it would be great if someone passed me a link to a DoD-mapinstaller, like there is one for Counterstrike. Does it excist? I hope so. It would be so much easier :p
I would greatly appreciate a serious answer :)

PS, If it's still not clear what I mean; it's a program wich makes a installer for the map you created. Like a setup.

Might not work with the latest version of NSIS though.

Why use an installer?
You could perfectly use the http auto-download supported by steam!! You should check out the stickies (the one made by shane I believe).
If you provide a .res file with your map, only admins should download/install the map on their servers and a copy on a http webserver. Whenever a player joins a game on your map, steam will read the .res file and initiate a download from the http-server instead of downloading directly from the server.
Needless to say: a player doesn't have to wait endless mins but mere seconds!!
Let's support his new system!!!

Here's your installer:
sv_downloadurl
Know it, love it.
Here's a thread on setting the thing up (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33823)...

All ours are on the same box and I can't say that sv_downloadurl is any more laggy than if I'd of asked people to d/l the zip or some map-pack at the same time.... but I will pay more attention to this going forward.
That said, I still love the feature. For one thing, there's no wasted downloading. I'm realizing w/ say, .zips and esp. map packs is you waste a lot of BW on redundant downloads.
For instance, say model xyz.mdl is used in the 3 custom maps. If you d/l them as individual zips then you've done something redundant 2 times and wasted that BW.
Now, w/ mappacks you might say that you can eliminate that redundancy as the mdl would only be in there once. True, but if your mappack is for, say, all the maps on your server and then you modify it for the 3 new maps you add, then you waste a horrendous amount of BW making people download all the other maps in the pack that they may already have.
The beauty of sv_downloadurl is that is gives the player exactly and only what they need. Nothing is wasted short of a disconnect.
I understand, as w/ all things, there's a price, but I don't think its any more significant than if you turn away players to go d/l zips or exes or packs or whatever.
Again, this is opinion, so I can see how a server like KK w/ a dedicated group of regs would just go d/l the damned map.
I guess my philosophy is that sv_download brings em into the game right away w/ little time wasted. We've gone from having some of the lesser known maps, clervaux3b for example, being unplayed or just w/ 3s or 4s, to having full matches of 9 on 9, and its solely due to sv_downloadurl.
Again, whatever works best for you. To each his own. :)
