Hey, I've been trying to convert some custom para models to use in regular gameplay. I dunno what I'm doin wrong, but when I go in game, my para models have no legs. Some models are drawn perfectly and look sweet, but some just don't seem to work correctly. I'm fairly new at this converting thing. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Try searching, try reading, try looking, try this, look a few threads down from this one you posted, there is your answer, it starts with hack jobbing

Heh, try finding a link that works in that thread.. I've looked in other threads so don't assume I haven't. I'm not as ignorant as the next poster. Don't let me come off as a person who does not try. You guys, no offense, were my last resort.
I just want to do I "simple" convert. Why waste your time posting, unless you can give me some information I can use?
I've tried the following threads ( Why must I prove myself to you people..?):
-Hack Jobbing, Converting player models, sliding textures, and other useful Tutorials. = links are down.
Tutorial: Converting Para models for Standard play = is where I got the idea of converting the para models I have. Still haven't worked, even when tried different solutions posted in that thread.
Looked under google, for my problem. Found no sites helpful or beneficial to me.
Need I say more? (don't answer that..)

if the tut in that thread didnt work for you then your doing something wrong, not meaning to offend you, but ur the first to have it not work.
Compiling isnt a thing u just go out and do, there are steps u should take to ensure it works properly
just as a side note, try to be a bit more sweet when some1 tries to help you:rolleyes:
post what is making the tutorial "not work" because thats about how much help we can give ya, when you don't tell the exact problem.
loads of peeps are floating arount like Jed and myself and cheeto and a few others that can help you once u tell us the exact problem your having :):)

What I meant by "try finding a link that works in that thread" was that the links that I needed was down. I don't mean to come off as a hardass, but when people make false accusations about me I think I need to correct them. ;b I really have nothing to prove to any of you, I just want help to fix my problem. :) I do thank you for taking the time to actually post though.
On topic - I messed about with HLMV and the para.qc file, I think dod is drawing parts that don't exist on the model. There is only one "body group" that the model uses for para gameplay that has legs. I looked at the qc file, and it wants to draw parts up that really aren't there. I tried renaming the ones that needed renaming, but when I compiled it's like the qc didn't change at all. I dunno what I'm doin wrong?
Oh, I'm using Jed's to compile and decompile if thats any help at all.

Post a .qc of the (excluding the animations part) of the original model and the converted para-model you made in the 1st post.
We can help more from there. In the meantime, I'll try and recompile those Para models for myself to see whats the problem.

Heres the orignial :
// reference meshes
$bodygroup body
{
studio "allie-para_body"
blank
blank
blank
blank
blank
}
$bodygroup helmet
{
studio "allie-para_helmet"
studio "allie-para_helmet2"
blank
blank
blank
blank
blank
blank
}
$bodygroup head
{
studio "allie-para_head0"
studio "allie-para_head1"
studio "allie-para_head2"
studio "allie-para_head3"
studio "allie-para_head4"
studio "allie-para_head5"
studio "allie-para_head6"
}
$bodygroup gear
{
studio "tommygear"
studio "springgear"
studio "garandgear"
studio "mggear"
studio "bargear"
studio "carbgear"
studio "greasegear"
}
It stays that way even when I compile. Maybe I'm not compiling? lol Cause like in the other thread, someone stated it compiles "Uber fast" and thats what it's doin. lol, So now I'm thinking it's not compiling.

I'm facing the same problem with converting para into inf models. Worked with 1.1. Now shows some models complete and others just some body parts. So you're not the only one a1NeO.
