map not loading, steam's fault?

I haven't mapped since 1.0 so recently picked up on one of my old maps. From what I remember in 1.0 you needed info_player_allies, info_player_axis, light, info_player_observer, and info_doddetect.

Now I got all of these in my map and it ran on 1.0 but won't on 1.2 through steam. I open up the console type map dod_mapname, server starts loading it gets to 4 bars then stops loading and eventually freezes. Is there a new fgd or something? What am I doing wrong?

You only need an info_player_allies for the game to detect a dod map. (By default at least.)

yep, maps can be pitch black spawn only one allied player at a time, have no obs and actually quite a few maps don't have info_dod_detect

did you compile with entity only command but infact changed more to the .map then just entities?

this will cause it to hang up without a clear reason

just tossing around sugestions :)

Nope, that's not it. Thanks anyway IR. Tried one of my other maps, and a no go with that either.

Wouldn't it have to be the compiling process then since 2 of my maps don't work? I'm using batch compiler and never had any problems before.

You may want to take it easy on the amount of .wads that you are using in Hammer.

50% of those wads in the log I don't use anymore. I currently only have 8 wads setup and am not using many textures at all for this, but I believe the rmf is still recognizing all the old wads.

1769239653 solids were not loaded due to errors in the file.

That might have something to do with it.

Compile is ok with only 1 wad, here.

Your hammer config has a problem since you have only a few wads in the Options/Textures tab, but a dozen in the rmf. Hammer has this problem sometimes.

- If you are familiar with computers, make a search in registry for 1 of these wads and delete the key (texturefile0,texturefile1,texturefile2 etc);
or
- heavy method: reinstall hammer. Save GameCfg.wc first ;) it will save you some time.

BTW...that''s 1 BILLION, 769 MILLION, etc solids....

Mythic Kruger, you genius! That was it, I made the mistake of just copying and pasting my old hammer folder over to my new computer.
