Can't adjust to mapping under Steam

Hey guys, I have done some mapping prior to Steam but since then I just can't get back into it. What major changes have to be made in order to get Hammer and Steam to work better together?

The absence of halflife.wad has me really messed me up.

wouldn't know.... I kept an install of my old HL and DoD to work off of. ^_^

If you have access to it, I'd do it too. It's worth the disk-space.

I did that, then i got GCF scape and just unpacked the relevant .gcf's into the correct folders and voila.

u should keep your old WON dod folder, compile the same as you used to (but copy the steam version of hl.exe and use that as your game executable). then copy ur map.bsp and any other files (models, sounds) that is used for your map into ur steam folder. (steamapps/email@domain.com/day of defeat/dod).

you have to copy ur bsp every time you compile, but its quite an easy process.
