I realised that I seem to be forever posting stuff as Work In Progress but never really making a lot of releases. I think this is usually down to a) me being over critical and a perfectionist and b) always coming up with a new idea and ending up working at too many things at the same time.
As I've been doing some models for 1.2 I had to make a list of all my other current WIP's to prioritise things and stay on top of it so I thought I'd make a running summary.
This is also a request for comments - for some reason I don't get a lot of feedback about things and I really welcome constructive feedback as long as its informative and fair. Stuff like "that sucks" doesn't help much but "that sucks because of this and I think this might stop it sucking" helps me a lot. That and constructive suggestions.
So heres a list of what I've got going on and figured I'd post it to see what comments you guys/gals (do we have any gals?) might come up with.
British/Canadian Airborne V2
This is the follow up to my original Airborne models and hopefully will feature the animated faces (http://www.wunderboy.org/images/misc/animate_face_1.gif) I've been pimping for months. I've rebuild the body's from the ground up and managed to lose about 350 polys in total even though the head has a shed load more polys for the expressions. Their not much different, just a little more baggy looking than the first version.
With regard to the animated faces, the skeleton is rigged ready for it and a couple of test runs work fine. Only problem is a compiler problem which I think is down to a memory buffer overflow. If I can fix that I can probably put a load of animated faces into the models but if no I may have to limit them to only certain animations.
I'll post WIP pics when the mesh is a little more final - i'm just tweaking it to try and remove some of the horrible joint twisting around the bones.
High-Res Enfield skin and scope
From this thread (http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27651), its been passed over to Marzy who's been abusing it. Its done, but its going into Marzy's Brit Weapons pack so its up to him for a release date.
Marzy's Bren
I'm currently fixing up some minor errors in the mesh and tweaking the UV Map before I skin it. Its currently top of my to-do list once I finish some 1.2 models off.
HLMV
Pretty much done for this version. Don't know what exactly might go into another update, if there is one. Had some reasonable feedback though and it's all been taken into consideration.
XSI Plug-in
Pretty much a back-burner project until HL2 modelling kicks off. I have added some minor tweaks over the first beta - it now incorporates the DevIL image library to fix some texture export tweaks and I'm working on adding bone and anim export support.
GUIStudiomdl
Marzy tested a more recent build and it does actually open QC files and compile them! :) I need to work on error handling so that it actually handles errors properly  but I'm the worlds worst C++ programmer evah! Still craps out compiling player models but I believe thats a memory buffer problem and it doesnt support the texture rendermode options.
Thats about it I think. If anyones got any feedback let me know. I'll probably wind down my DoD 1.x modelling projects after this lot and focus on some stuff for DoD 2. Mostly things like prop models, etc.
