On the subject of player death animations...

I was looking at some 1.1 player models, checking out the animations and such, when it kinda struck me how bland the death animations are. The grenade ones are great, but the bullet deaths are just kinda weak. It seems like they are too slow and when they get shot, they don't recoil enough from the impact.

Example - Player is shot, bends at the waist a little, brings hand from gut area to face ,*Oh-dear-I-appear-to-have-been-shot-sort-of-look*, then he slowly slumps to the ground.

It just doesn't feel like he got hammered by a .30 and fell to the ground in pain. I'm not saying the defaults are horrible, because I can't animate at all so It's not like I can do better. I know this is a rather small thing to complain about, but the way they die doesn't make the game very intense, it's like you're shooting bean bags and not bullets.

lol someone suggested the other day that you change all the death animations with the explosion ones.

its quite funny shooting someone with a rifle and watching them fell backwards or roll away lol

While that would make the game rather humorous. (I'm laughing thinking of that happening right now actually) I prefer a darker more intense fight. Of course I dont want to go overboard and have the players grab their guts and squirm around in agonizing pain while the wav sounds like somthing out of Tekkobra's death scream packs -

MEWAAAAAAAAAGH *hacking cough* OH GAWD I'VE BEEN HIT, AAAAAAAAAGH...and I think you get the idea

I mean just a faster more intense death with quicker hit sounds. (animations and sounds sorta like....eh....CS)

Did I say DOD should be like CS? Better run before the angry mobs come after me. ;)

maybe someone should look at a movie likie saving private ryan or enemy at the gates... and try to do some deaths from those...
