Never heard of FOV.......lol. well ill see what they look like ingame first, before i do anything else.

I also intend on making some player model one's aswell...:).

Here is another pic, showing the model with a wireframe overlay, so you can see how i've gone about constructing the model, although i might revise this version, to bring the polycount down from 532 poly's..:(.

FOV... hmm... well i dunno if it's good to make a FOV for such a small model part.

anyway i have a cool thought or two, how about making the nails transperent a little and also how about giving them a high resolution texture ? :D

Well when i released the elite tommy, i used FOV edits on the right hand, and i liked the effect as this **PIC** (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/scitzo/FOVfingers.jpg) shows. So i intend to experiment with it a little, to see what i can come up with.


Transparent works only with one colour, and is not semi-transparent, and even if i tried using an additive texture, it would mean adding more poly's to the underside of the nails, increasing the polycount more ....:(

They are rounded off a little, that picture makes them look more square, although i might try tweaking them a little more yet...:).

Very nice...

However, the thumb still looks abit odd, the nail should be pointing more upwards as the thumb cannot rotate that much...Showgin the nail...

Thanks for your comments, i've found that the way the bones are assigned the nails are being stretched...:(, so i need to add a few more poly's to stop that from happening.....:(. I've also been working on a player model hand, i've tried to keep as much detail as my V_model hand, like the bones on the top of the hand, and the palm shape, which has worked out at 172 poly's. They use the default hand skin, resized to 128x128. I may try cutting back a little more on the detail and see if i can get the polycount lower.

it seems like you have soem joins in the skin. if that was sorted out it would look a lot better

I've resized and rounded the nails a little, and added a few more poly's to stop them stretching when animated, here is what it's looking like now.

The pack is not finished yet, i'm working on the hands..:D


First look at what the hands look like on an ingame model, it shows some stills from my enfield anim's, the right hand and bones have been resized to compensate for FOV.

Dunno what about you guys but my nails don't go over my fingers, i cut them... also they don't look unique there ;/

Maybe it's just me i dunno... im not denying the option :P

nails are a tid bit light in color i'd very slightley darken them up.

People's hands are all different, mine are skinny with a slight yellowish tint and long, kinda boney fingers, and you can see my veins rather easily, some people have chubby pink hands with stubby fingers. You can tweak these hands to fit what you like when he releases them, but they look great to me.

Also, how often does a front line soldier have the time or inclination to trim his nails?

looks great, but I agree the nails look a little odd. They start too close to the knuckle or something. Whatever though, still looks good.

The thing is because the hands are animated, they get pulled about a bit, and because the vertex that make up the back of the nails are assigned to the last bone in each finger. Then when these bones are rotated, the back end of the nail is the point where the finger ends get rotated from, making the nail look the full length of the last knuckle. Ill have a think about it, and see if i can come up with a way to improve on it.

The model is beautiful.

Could you de-pinkify the texture a bit? Sean Connery has the best hands but i can't find any good pictures. I think they need a bit of VEIN action and some hair.
