REL: WWII HL GUI Banner Replacement

As you all know, DoD 1.0 currently shows the HL banner when you load up DoD. Well I made something that fits the time of DoD better, it's a short snippet of a scene from The Pianist, where soldiers are fighting in the streets.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Half-Life will play the audio from this file, but the audio is included for your enjoyment outside of HL, and if you want to attempt to rebuild it with working audio, be my guest.

Also, It had to be raw AVI for HL to play it, any form of compression would not work inside HL. While the RAR compressed file is about 17MB, it will extract to over 100MB, so if you're really low on disk space you might wanna skip this.

Screenshot and download are available Here (http://files.dodnetwork.com/index.php?page=pafiledb.php&action=file&id=76) from DoDNetwork.

Place logo.avi in \Half-Life\valve\media

Enjoy!

This is wrong on some many levels.

I'm not sure I understand you inlfatable...I personally saw the pianist and although I'm not sure how long the posted sequence is, I DO know that the scene depicted in the screenshot is a perfectly appropriate scene for a sample of "street combat" which DoD is so famous for...

...on the other hand, I'd definately not support this avi if it depicted a row of jews lying on the ground being shot in the back of the head one after another, which was, quite sadly a far too common shot in this movie :-/

The only thing visible in this short clip are maybe a dozen German soldiers moving together towards a building, periodically stopping to shoot their rifles. There is no death (except for one German body on the street) and no torture of any kind. It's a street combat scenario that I felt went well with DoD.

Elaborate in MSA, that is where you release things.

I will edit your thread title as a release, please follow the proper format for releases and do so in the proper forum..

noooooooooooo. I dont mean its not appropriate.

I mean its warez, but your not making money from it, so I doubt anyone will give a p00p.

I retract my comment.

Correct. I'm not making money and the company isn't losing money. Hence, who cares :D

ah yes, i understand where EVERYONE is coming from heh....I think i'll grab that when I get home....

btw, i don't know if it's in this shot but I thought i was awesome how that MG'er on the move propped the mg42 on that small outcropping on the building while standing to fire off a few rounds...very good movement!

WARNING...

Placing this in your Half-Life/valve/media Dir will over-write the Half-Life logo... This will show this WWII in HL, or and Mod that doesn't include a logo.avi....

However...

You can place it in:

/half-life/dod/media/

And it will work just fine, AND wont touch the half-life logo.avi :)
