Adding sprites to models?

The models me and Gab are working on have cigs and cigars hanging from their mouth. Is it possible to asign a smoke sprite to the cig so it will look like it smoking? Also, can we make our models heads actually blow off w/ a headshot?

No and No.

You might be able to make a smoke effect using some clever bone work and additive textures.

Actually he can make the head blow off, just move the head bone in the headshot anims.

Slight problem Cheeto - the bottom vertexes of the neck are attached to the body so if you try and pull the head off you'll have 2 problems:

1) Mr Rubber man stretchy neck technology.

2) Your head might end up somewhere wierd if say for example you were on the tower on Avalanche.

3) There is no point 3...

That's why you suck the head into the chest. Then it looks alright. S'what I did for my headshot anims.

I once added a blood sprite to a player model to play with the headshot anim's, it sort of worked but looked crap, or did it crash my machine when it played ingame, i can't remember now. And i can't remember how i did it either, although i might of replaced the 3rd muzzle flash that dod does not use with a blood sprite, and added the event to the headshot anims. So it might be possible to make a smoke sprite to replace the 3rd muzzle flash, and add it to every anim, maybe.

i think you might be wrong

the same way you can add sprite attachments for muzzleflash... you can attach a sprite to the head or neck bone with smoke....

but then again i might be wrong :D

oh and to make the head blow off all you would have to do it place the heads in the qc where the helmets would be. wouldnt that work ?

You can make your heads get bloody when you're shot in it (or even cave in). I made a model like this a long time ago.

Not the best idea really cos if a nade went off near by but didn't kill you you would be running around without a head lol

Ok, how bout this, can we make the head suddenly miss a big chunk of it and have the helmet flyin' off become a piece of flesh?

What about modeling the head as it would look with the piece missing... then model the helmet with the chunk of flesh so that when the helmet is on the head it looks like the head is still whole... once a headshot occurs the helmet (with attached flesh) flies off and the wound is exposed ... ???

In theory it sounds right to me...
