Folding Carbine w/ Heatshield

Model: Gen
Skin: Dillinger/Gen
Barrel: DoD team
Anims: Sushi

Hack, model/skin edits: Peril

Looking for some variety in M1 Carbines, I came
across this lovely version with a metal heatshield
over the barrel. The only things that bugged me
were the lack of Sushi's great anims, and the fact
that the holes on the shield were merely black dots.
First I recompiled onto Sushi's original anims, then
added transparency to the holes in the shield. This
meant that you could see through the shield and right
out the bottom of the gun. To fix this, I made an
internal surface for the shield and a basic one for
the foregrip. There are still a few minor gaps, but
they aren't too noticable ingame. On a whim, I added
the default FOV barrel, which negated the extra polies
used on the inside of the shield, meaning the model is
only 6 polies more than Gen's original.

Walther P38

Model: sPiN-FuZoR
Mesh: P_Witty
Skin: Fox-Mike
Anims: DoD team Colt
Sounds: DoD team/Waffle SS

Hack, reorigin: Peril

I found this P38 as an old CS model, and decided
I'd use it for DoD Luger. Unfortunately, the only
Luger slide pistol anims I could find I didn't
like at all. Thus, I converted the Colt anims to
Luger, and put this P38 on them. I included 2 sets
of sounds, the default Colt ones and a set of Luger
sounds which fit ok.

Model: Mixelplux/DoD team
Skin: Mixelplux
Mag skin: AJjer62nd
Bullets: V2/-X-

Hack: Peril

I liked Mixel's STG, but wasn't keen on the mag.
However, AJjer's mag has a nicely detailed top,
so I hacked that on. I then resized and added
V2's bullet to the top of the mag for eye candy.

Dillinger's 'nade on TS anims

Model: DoD team
Skin: Dillinger
Anims: The Specialists team/Peril

Hack, convert, model edit, some anims: Peril

I personally love these 'nade anims from TS, but
'nades are very rarely used in that mod. In DoD,
people chuck the things everywhere, so I decided
to convert the anims. After a while reshaping and
reassigning the hands, I realised that it lacked
half of the anims DoD needed. So, I edited and
remade some of the anims to fit for DoD. Lastly,
I put the anims on Dillinger's fab 'nade skin.

FG42 custom

Model: RDK
Mesh: P_Witty
Skin: SLiNkY
Sheath: Bots/Sergeant Smash
Scope: Endorphin/Sixshooter/jackal/DMZ
Scope mount: DoD team

Hack, convert, model edits, recolours: Peril

Looking for a nice FG42, I came across this one, but
for 3.1. I converted it over to 1.1, but had to edit
the bipod quite a bit to work with the new anims. For
the scoped version, I could only find P_Witty's scope
skin, and I wasn't keen on the scope model anyway. I
decided to hack DMZ' Eurolux scope hack into an FG42
scope. I removed a lot of the modern adjustment dials
and recoloured it to match SLiNkY's skin. The lense I
also recoloured to a more realistic shade. I used the
default mount, and recoloured that too. I removed the
bipod as the scoped FG42 doesn't use them. The skinny
barrel made the gun look rather weak, so I covered the
whole front with Bot's sheath. I included Sgt. Smash's
alternate sheath skins for variety.

Greasegun Set

Model: Nomad/Capt. Glimsharp
Skin: Dillinger
Strap: Shrike/The_AiM/pvt.Malarkey
Mag clip: Snap/The_AiM
Sten mag: DoD team/Capt. Glimsharp/Ska Wars
Bullets: V2/-X-

Hack, anim edits: Peril

As with most of his anims, Sushi's Greasegun anims
are far better than the defaults, but the default
skin is rather bland. Dillinger's however is a
great skin, so I swapped it onto Sushi's anims.
Later, inspired by Trigger's Greaser, I added a
double mag and strap. For fun I edited the anims
to make the gun held 1-handed. Also, I read about
the British in WW2 converting Greasers to 9mm to
use Sten magazines, thus I hacked one up also, and
decided it made a nice set to release.

Very cool carbine (I think it was the one I requested forever ago, but now with holes! woot!) but is there a way we can get more conventional animations? I don't like the whole gripping the folded stock thing :(

03-27-2004, 02:32 PM
I think you can just swap the anim smd's, but I might release more stuff soon, if I do I'll include a default anims version of the Carb. ;)

Nice stuff, Peril.

Very well done indeed. You have earned much respect from me. Expertly done hackjobs. By the way, now that I'm here, anyone know if someones converted my old Axis set for the new steam DoD?
