New to dod editing, two questions

Well, I finally got off my arse and got a decompiler/compiler along with Jed's HLMV. I have import/export textures down pat, now I just have a few questions.

Say I wanted a new anim for a weapon model/skin I love. So, I download one of Sushi's models, take the .smd's related to the anims, and overwrite the other models smd's. Should that work? (trying to explain best I can)

Furthermore, say I wanted those high poly hands that fix the blocky fingers. How would I go about putting them on my models?

Please explain in detail, because I'm new to this.

Yes, the overwriting the animations should work fine as long as they have the same bones (Generally Sushi uses the default bones so they whould work fine.)

Swapping the hands will require you to use milkshape (link to it in the sticky thread at the top).

I'm in the middle of an essay at the mo so i haven't really got time to explain how to do it now but if you contact me via AIM/MSN/E-mail I'll either guide you through it then or write you a quick tut some time over the weekend.

My bones aren't necessarily default. I reset the bone rotations (so animation would be a little less of a pain it is today) to zero. Most of my older models prolly use them, but any of the new models, your going to have to acquire MSZero for Milkshape.
