Idea for getting more map models out of the MSA guys

Morning everyone, I've been doing some thinking in the past few days about how to get more map models out of the MSA guys (except learning how to do it ourselfs :p), now basically I was thinking we could make a thread here in the mapping section with the name, links to pictures and other info the moderllers will need, then once we've got a nice amount of them we could ask an admin nicely to have this thread shifted across to the request forum in MSA and stuck there so that the MSA people know that the mapping community needs alot more map models and less player/weapon models.
Anyway I think this would help us alot and get our plight more well known over in the MSA section and maybe even drag some of the better moderllers away from mking player/weapon models and into something more productive like map models :)

Anyway I'll start the ball rolling by adding somethings that I think would be good to have modeled.
Note these are just all German vechiles I've posted so far, and I got some good pictures from the Tamiya website of them.

Maybe you should make a plea into the Modelling forum as well as here?

Models are sort of a background thing. YEs we need more, but there's little incentive to make something which is just in the background.

Dude......... you don't make army toy kits? :p

I like the 38cm Assault Mortar Sturmtiger, good for a siege map with it firing...

40 Tons of recoil....

I've made a thread in the request forum in MSA too.

And no I don't make models either, I just know that its a good reference for modellers ;)

I don't think they need ideas, map models are usable only by mappers; player and weapon models any player can use. Map models are rather boring for typical MSA modeler and require much more work.

It's very hard to get people to come to your aid.

I've had a little luck, but thats only because I've asked for tweaks, rather than say, asking for whole new model.

Try to find an existing model that is somewhat similar to your request. Post DETAILED instructions with pictures and be nice, offer a service in return, like hosting :)

The other issue is that with map models you have to be pretty exacting and limit your poly use, which is not something that the MSA boys (I am a modeller there, as well as an unrealising mapper here :p) are really into. If you notice, there's been a huge kick on making high poly everything. P_ and W_ models are being made with 3k polys, player models are being given individual fingers and weapon models are having most of their details modelled out instead of skinned out. So telling em 'Hey, I need this made, but don't model every single bolt, please.' is contrary to their nature right now. That, and in the order of hierarchy, map models just aren't that high for them. Weapon models, then players, then map models. *sigh* It sucks, I know, but it's the reason my M3 experiement got so shoved to the backround that it may as well have failed, because I also was working on my other big project and it just was more important to me because it made a bigger impact.
