Request ( rather time consuming i would imagine )

Ok guys i dont no much about changing origins etc, and everything else you do.
But i was wondering IF there is a way any one of you could take all the default weapons in DOD and make them iron site? and if so would it require THAT much work?

I have been getting more and more interested in iron sites lately, and i still really like the default weapons DOD has of right now.

Also IF any of you where going to consider, would it be to hard to make that thing to where you can maybe right click your mouse to bring the iron sites up? like maybe have available for download all the things you would need etc?

I was think have just regular weapons with cross hairs etc, and then right click, and the iron sites come into view, and for the sniper the scope view comes, and for MG i would just make the deploy botton something different.

If anyone could do this for me ( if its not TO much work ) i would REALLY appriciate it.
If it would take more then an hour just tell me, and you dont have to do it.

Thanks

O sorry one more thing, i on some weapons like the BREN ( i think ) the actual aiming thing, doenst actuall have a hole for you to look through, if you no what i mean. E.G the Garand now has a see through site, unlike in 3.1.
The ones without them, i wouldnt expect you do redew, just still line it up, and i can just take irion sites off if it was geting to difficult.

Something to tide you over while you wait for the iron sights. type cl_bobcycle 0 in console. Kinda looks like ironsights but its not perfect. Crosshair still remains too.

Also because I'm bored I even decided to go out and take an example pic of this command. Pic below is the enfield using it.

*EDIT* cl_bobcycle 1 does change it back to what it originally was

Ok thanks man, i guess i can use that for now.
But i was really hoping for it to be real ironsites, like actually aiming.
And i was hoping that i could bring it down etc.

What started my obsession with it, was when i was watching my friend play some vietnam game, and he was pulling up the iron sites, and then brings the gun down to hip level and running and brings up the sites again to aim on enemy.

Thats what im trying to do.

Im not sure what game it is man, i saw him playing one level where he was starting out in a plane, and you could here some nice 60's music in the background, and then like 6 jets come flying by, and then your plane gets hit and you go down, and they have like a translater aswell, and its a really good game.
You can go in your little barrack when your at base, and the radio is on etc. Its a really realistic game.

Ironsights in the way your describing is impossible i think.

(unless if i remember somone did it rite when we lost the old forums)

You just have them either perminatly on, or perminatly off.

Personally i think they look rather silly, as i imagine a team running around with mp44s held rite up to their eyes like some kind of swat team. People say it helps aiming, but thats crap because your are still pointing the middle of your screen at the enemy. It would actually help your aiming more if you had no wepon model there at all.

Well first of all i have not seen ALL the weapons iron sites yet, and the ones i have saw, have been redone weapon models i believe.
All i want is for the default models of version 1.0 to be changed to iron site, i think all you have to do is change the origins.

And i was reading somwhere before that you can take your gun down from iron sites by typing in a bunch of different stuff somwhere, but i never had any luck, so i was hoping that the kind person who decides to do this for me would include the stuff that i need to do to make iron sites come down in game etc.

I honestly think it would be a great pack, and im not just saying that for my benefit, but alot of people would like it.

Please somone, i hate asking, but i really dont no what im doing when it comes to that stuff.

Ok guys well maybe just do this for the allied guns only?
forget the axis, just do the allied, please?

But i really want to make it so that the right click will bring up the iron sites.
And your only changing origins, please consider.

The DoD team would need to code in an iron sight system for you to be able raise and lower your weapons like that. You know, change origins in-game.

The closest you can get to that is clicking the link in my signature. It takes the model off screen so you can see what you're doing, that's all. You press another button to get the model back.

Capt. Glimsharp, who makes the real good iron sights, needed to make the sights on most of the models bigger so you could see through 'em. I might try to make some iron sights, but they'll probably be somewhat buggy and hard as hell to use.

Glimsharp will have new ones...he's busy, so we'll have to wait until he gets time. He's your best bet for workable ones, though.

urseus, it's the whole illusion that helps with aiming. It goes in your mind for some because you're using the actual sights and makes it feel a bit easier. It's done it for me sometimes.

Well if i cant have it yet, at least thanks for telling me that stuff, now i cant rest.........o well.

Thanks guys.

I was just thinking that as i was reading through your post.

Last nite i thought exactly the same thing with sounds. If they are fitted properly, you shoot more accuritly. Its entirly illusionary but it works on me.

I think that's Vietcong. I've never played the game so I don't know, but that's what it sounds like to me.

take the v_ model, decompile it with either milkshape or krastitos

(krastitos keeps origins, milkshape doesnt, other than that, they are the same)

all you have to do is experiment with the origins until you find a position that suits the weapon to give the impression that you are using is, its time consuming,

and with the bren, you look through a hole, like the garand, but its positioned slightly to the left.... there is a pic in another topic, tet 1968 or summit

Ok thanks alot guys.

I hope i can get this worked out one day.

I do remember the Water-Cooled MG model someone made (Sorry forgot :-/) that was actually an ironsite WHEN deployed but when it wasnt deployed it looked as a normal gun (NON IRONSITE) so im sure it can be done...

see all i want, which after reading i dont think is possible.
But for you to join a game and everything to be default, except for the crosshairs, then say for example you pic the garand, you see it like it is supposed to be, and then you see a guy up in the window, so you have the choice to shoot at the enemy without the cross hairs ( realistic) or right click and being up the iron sites and aim at the enemy.

That would be SOOOOO amazing to see one day.

Yeah, Glimsharp did that with his Mgs. It was a cool trick that no one expected. Of course, this will work for weapons with bipods only.

Like I said, the DoD team could code this into the game in the future, but I'm not sure if they will. It slows the game down a bit and I think they want DoD to be fast paced. At least, the DoD team should have an official iron sight pack with each release for the people who want 'em. Kinda like they're doing with offical Canadian player models coming out soon.

But I agree with you, Private-88, it'd be great to have one day. I love using iron sights, but when you're using them, as of right now, you're pretty slow compared to people using crosshairs. You have to work a lot harder...I guess that's why some people use 'em, heh. :)

The game is called VietCong. IF that matters. The sniper scope for the Mosin Nagant actually takes skill because its not a scope, you use the sites.

Well yeah it does slow you down, and give you a disavantage, but after you get used to it, wouldnt it just put you up with the others?

Just after seeing the game vietcong, i really liked the way it worked with the iron sites. I think i try to find out how to change the origins by myself ( thats pretty much a joke, im so n00b ) And after i change the origins to iron site, then i can try to do that thing where i can make the iron sites come down, and come up when i want to, i no its possible cause i saw it in the post that guy posted here, but i could never get it to work :(
