I got the game yesterday and was wondering how to map for the game? My brother has done some works in the sims (http://www.ant.computed.net) and he might be willing to help. what tools do i need? and how?

Since you're new to the game and these forums, let me give you a couple pieces of friendly advice:

1. Read the forum stickies. You'll note there are lots of answers for basic questions like what you just asked. You'll note this forum has a sub-forum just on tutorials & QA. That should be your next visit.
2. Use the search function. Its a very good friend.
