N00b question of the day: How the damn hell do I open up a model from HL into Milkshape? I plan to make an reanimated v_Garand that rivals (or at least, a bit remiscent from n00bie work) Cpt. Glimsharps.

you have to decompile the .mdl first, then use "file/import/half-life SMD" to open up the .smd's that were extracted

i was told that "tools/Kratisto's Half-Life MDL Decompiler 1.2" works teh best

ps animation is a real hard job, i only have the patience for like 30 frames:D

Well, it won't be such a hard job if I work on the animation every now and then for about a month or two.

I promise you guys will like this one. Or maybe not. :D

LOL, the default Garand buttsmack animation has 84 frames.

OK, this is getting really tedious, but where the hell does the model get compiled?

It's not even showing the model on my screen at all.

hehe

you need to load the model first, then the other sequence smd's, the usual name should be reference.smd, if not then it should be anything without an action name like shoot reload etc etc

after you get the model loaded and want to give animation a go press the animation button on the bottom right corner of the screen and start moving bones and setting key frames. After your done and want to see your animation in hlmv or whatever make sure you export it as a sequence not a reference
