Just extract the zip to your SteamApps\E-mail\day of defeat\dod folder

Too bad steam's resize filter is ass when using resolutions above 800x600.

Yup, it`s FUBAR, the base pic should be at least 1024x768 or 1600x1200 for best effects :P

The .tga files should go in:

SteamApps\E-mail\day of defeat\dod\resource\background

Anybody have any ideas on how to convert your default background to a bigger size, preferably 1280x1024?
