Well after all this time, here is my Sten Mk5...:D.
There are two zip files, one is the hi poly original model with all seen detail being part of the model, where as the second is a revised model that is 472 polygons lighter, which will run better on lower end PC.
Each zip file also contains 2 animated versions, one uses the default sten anim's, with just the left arm edited to hold the sten by the grip. The other uses custom ones, there is also some alternative skins, that come in dark or lighter versions, rather then the 2 tone default one's. For those that don't know how to change skins, you need HLMV, which you can find here. http://www.wunderboy.org/3d_games/utils/hlmv.php

fps on the reload is slow...maybe it jsut my computer..btw the custom sleeves button is tite

Well if you run a PC which can handle the extra poly's, then they might be like me and would rather have modeled detail rather then cheaper transparent tricks. Although it is hard to tell the difference between the two, it shows more on the rivets.

Did you notice that i've added a bone for the clip release catch, so it stays down when it's pressed, then pops back up when the clip gets pushed back in,. I don't know if the catch stays down on the real weapon when changing a clip, but i thought what the hell...throw it in anyway...:D

I have to say I am impressed. That is a very nice model. It's very well finished. The total look is complete. Good job.
I won't be using it, since I'm very much attached to the model I have now, but I would if I weren't.

The custom reload anime needs custom sounds and maybe a charge to the weapon...
Other than that it's perfect, for now im using just the idle custom anime, it's great :-)

I agree some custom sounds would be nice, edited just for the model, also maybe use the sound you get when you draw a weapon, for the idle anim in places.
As for the anim's i might try improving on them and maybe make a custom draw anim.

Ill try and get around to releasing the sleeves smd files, where you get the right and left sleeve. At this very minute though i'm working on a sten Mk2...:).

Dead made it, i jus tried to get it to work. its works ok but isn't meshed all that well and when cokcing it the bolt comes out of the gun. easy to fix but i don't have any time to do it.
If you've got AIM or MSN give us your details and I'll send you it if you want to finish it.

Nice models marzy mate, good to see more custom brit stuff.
I've quit doing hackjobs and have actually started making stuff from scratch (shock horror :eek: ) and am working as a player modeller for 'Over The Top' mod. Currently working on the German infantry models and then the Brits. Not as hard as it looks but doing faces is a pain in the arse lol
Anyway, way off topic sorry. Keep up the great work mate, how's the Lewis gun btw *cough*HINT*cough* :D

Thanks, the trouble is the time frame for the reload anim is short by default, so it's hard to fit a more detailed anim in the time frame, without it looking fast. The reload anim works fine on my PC, i can't fire until the reload anim has finished.
I have read of one more person in this thread that has the same trouble as you, where you can start firing before the anim has finished. Are you running a low spec PC..?..i'm just wondering if that might be the problem, does anyone else get this problem..?.
If you like you can decompile the model and speed up the reload anim, and see if that works for you.
Just follow this tut, but instead of changing the origins in the QC file, look for this line instead.
$sequence "reload" "reload" fps 58
Try increasing the number from 58, then compile the model again, and test it out ingame, and see if that improves things for you.
