Hey...I uninstalled dod a while back...but when I heard about the 1.1 patch i downloaded what I thought was DoD but its a program called steam..its actually pretty cool it lets you play all of the valve games without having to download them....i think...does this mean I can't have custom skins/flags? Or is there a way around it?

Not as easy? It's a lot easier, actually, you don't even need to backup your default files. Just go to your Steam directory, then

/SteamApps/yourmail@blabla.com/day of defeat/dod/

and just put your custom files in the corresponding folders (you might have to create them, big deal). If you find out you don't like the custom files after all, just delete them and next time you run the game the default will be back.

PS: Custom player models won't work though, I think.

What would the folder be called to create the custom flags?

In your dod folder create /models for the w_xflag.mdl files (x being a, b, g and w) and /models/mapmodels for the flags.mdl file.
