3.1 Tommy classic, clip and slot version


I've taken the 3.1 reload anim and reworked it, so the hands and sleeves don't cut into the tommy model, and also changed the left sleeve and hand position, when the anim plays. I've also reworked most of the anim, by changing it a little here and there.

I enhanced the tommy by modeling a slot, hi poly bolt and bullet for it, aswell as the mag, which changes skins, from looking empty, and then full during the reload anim. I've attempted to make the left custom sleeve model to look and act more like a real arm, with the use of an extra bone and a few extra polys.

It's Sweet...:D, i'm well pleased with it, i would like to see a skin that has all the fittings around the trigger casing, like the default skin has, and also a sleeve skin with more creases and folds in the right places, as i think it would help to enhance the sleeve model better.

for me the sleeves are good but the hands i dont like so ill be replacing that with black hands or default

Just out of intrest, did you mean the defaut sleeve skins or sleeve models.

Here are some alternative Hi res default US sleeve skins that fit my custom sleeve models.

I've used Dillingers and the dod dev teams sleeve textures and mixed them up a bit and ended up with these. They come in two colours, one is like the original default colour, while the other is similar to Dillingers original colour. They also come in two pairs, with each being slightly different.

Well i've adjusted the sound events frame cue's to match in best with what you see going on in the anim, to get it spot on you would have to edit the sound files, but if you think you can do better with just adjusting the events frame cue's, then please feel free...:).


What do people think of the full arm edit, using the extended sleeve and extra bone, do you think it looks ok and works well, or needs more work..?.

And has anyone tried the alternative sleeve skins, and if so what do you think..?.

Would someone add these details to the tommy skin, or make a new skin with these details please.

so... it went out great in the end imo, i made a nice pack with this great trick of Kraut-Killer, the tommy_recharge is a massive tweak of his sound, the slap sound is a bar_slap sound that was edited, and the other sounds are default sounds that were also edited to fit the timings and ****.
Compile it with the new QC that was also changed to make the sounds go right with everything and there you go.

all the sounds go to the weapon folder.

Check it out ingame.

For those that welcome a few more poly's, i've started to model a few more enhancements to the model, the first being the fittings on the right hand trigger casing. I made a quick uv map using the existing tommy textures, it will look better when a texture is made just for this extra detail, and the texture under the fittings is also edited to look better. I'm thinking of maybe looking into adding an inner bolt and hole for the casings to ejecting from, so when the bolt handle gets pulled back in the reload anim, you would see an inner bolt come back and am empty casing fly from the hole.

Marzy, that Milkshape SS just made me want to ask this even more, how the "HACK :P" can i open the model in milkshape with getting errors?

I have downloaded the tommy, decompiled it with jed's HLMV, then i opened it on milkshape, as i load i get 3 errors... you loaded invisable textures to the model, i don't understand why i guess it have to do with the clip in/out thingy but anyway how can it be edited ? cause if i just load it and try saving it, it gives me an error claming something is not right.

I can overcome that by doing copy/paste of referance parts using notepad, but what i found is that every single change of the group "skin4bras4" cancels the full clip/empty clip trick, you see just the full one.


check this out, open the reference file in notepad, mark all of skin4bras4 parts and delete them, save the file and compile... now try running the reload anime and tell me if you see the empty clip at all ?

Hey guys , since you've almost perfected the tommy, don't you think it's time to correct the bolt handle :)

PS. Current tommy, the handle is placed towards the barrel and moves back when you shoot and then back towards the front , where it stays. And when you c0ck the gun the animation pulls the bolt back and then when it's released it returns back to the front.

The real tommy works exactly the other way around. The bolt handle stays in the back, towards the butt of the gun and when you shoot it kicks to the front and returns. It only moves (and stays) to the front of the gun at the exact moment when the clip is removed (but only if there is no bullet in the chamber, but that can't be checked in dod). When the new clip is reinserted the bolt has to be pulled back to the rear in order for the gun to be able to shoot again. The mp40 works exactly the same way
