I have been modelling with 3DS MAX for a while now but not skinned any of my own stuff.

I can't find any tutorials that actually show how to get the material onto a certain selection of vertexes.

I think my main problem is not being able to make groups from different vertexes.

Can someone either tell me how to do this or point me to a good tutorial?

Thanks :D

btw this is so easy in MS why so complicated in 3DS MAX?

Search for a plugin called textporter.

You should find a lot of helpful info from there. I had a great link on this stuff but i lost it in a format.

Thanks for that.

All im really looking for is how i select the vertexes for skinning, like with the Map that is so easy to use in MIlkshape. Just how to group off the different areas for different areas of the skin, someone must know!

Thanks:)

What you're talking about is called UV mapping, commmonly refered (erroneously) to as meshing. I did a quick Google search, and This (http://interneteye3d.com/) site looked promising. There are also some links to tutorials in the MSA Faq stickied at the top of the forum.
