When mappers put invisible walls (clip brushes) over EVERYTHING. On every roof, on every pile of rubble, on every single plant and wall that extend to the roof of the map. This degridates gameplay in my opinion, because I can't climb on everying. Being able to use the map innovatively was a true artform in DoD.

I agree with you that it is sort of annoying, but from a mapping standpoint, the player should go there. It's a way to make the end of a map without having to actually make a wall, so a pile of rubble can be the end of the map and still look realistic. Instead of people being able to climb up and be stopped by the skybox

no. exploiting map bugs is not good - and in some maps itīs extremly annoying. Just look at dod_cr44_b3.

Some places are good, but others can be a little aggrevating with clip brushes.

Like, for example - the steps to the left of the plane in Jagd....try running up the sides and you meet a clip brush at the top...I know its meant to stop you getting on that little ledge bit, but I like to run up there and jump off the end...you know, something to do when you are bored ;)

Ok, so maybe I am a little weird about it, but c'mon you know what I mean.....no?.....ok, **grabs coat**

Anyway, most clip brushes are good...like the ones to stop you going over the church on Avalanche....and some clip brushes aren't good....sometimes its worth being able to get on a ledge, or a little roof, maybe that one on the market vegetable shop on Anzio?? Just adds a little fun to the game, and if you can put tactics together which involve boosting people onto ledges, and so forth....I am all for the idea :)

Just my personal opinion anyway !!

it depends, I agree not to put it on everything, but somethings need it, like a 1" think fence that irl would be impossible to walk on, or certain roofs.

Edit: i love that avatar captain :p

I think almost anything that's low shouldn't have clip on it, only tall areas and buildings that it would look unnatural to have someone running on the roof should be clipped.

I'm one of those artfull jumpers who can bounce aorund a map and end up on the skybox.

I only clip areas where the player would run into stuff i didn't want them to see or a place i didn't want them to be. Anything else u can do on my maps is fair game, and quite often i will include places for the more agile to get to.

My example of good clip brushing vs bad clip brushing:
old kalt: good clip brushing. new kalt: bad clip brushing
jagd: horrible clip brushing
donner: horrible clip brushing
switch: good clip brushing

In games like CoD you're encouraged to take high points like building roofs, and to walk around up there to your advantage. It adds a whole nother level of strategy to the game. It was the only true artform in DoD, and it's quickly dying.
