//-- Tracer settings --\\
traceroffset 100
tracerlength 0.95
tracerred 1
tracergreen 0.5
tracerblue 0
traceralpha 0.45
tracerspeed 7100
//-- Tracer settings --\\
You'll want to put these settings in your steam\steamapps\your@e-mail.com\day of defeat\dod\userconfig.cfg
If I'm not mistaken, it's the traceroffset setting you'll want to change. Try bigger and smaller numbers to see what you like.
This will need to be confirmed...
This is my tracer settings:
//Custom DoD Bullet Tracer Settings
traceroffset 100
tracerlength .35
tracerred 1.3
tracerblue 0.1
tracergreen 0.7
traceralpha .45
tracerspeed 7100
I left the colors the same, and edited the speed, alpha, etc.
This was mainly my change to it in DoD 1.0. Now that the mg-42 fires two bullets with each click, it looks a bit different and often you see two tracers, but it still looks awesome.

I love the MG42 Tracers as they are :)

The Tracers look wack. Go play Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory and use the MG42, THAT is how tracers are supposed to look. No amount of fiddling with the numbers will make tracers look like that. And there are far to many of them in DOD should be 1/4 as many. DOD should be 1/4 as many.

The mg42 looks like a quad gun wirbelwind, and I like it like that.
That is all. ;)

Tracers just move too slow, looks like they are being thrown by hand lol

Good! We've got a setting for that. "tracerspeed". Increase it as you please. Also, decreasing the length will similarly descrease the amount of time they spend on-screen.

Is it possible to change the settings in-game, or do I have to exit the game and steam each time I want to make a change?

it's possible you can make different CFGs with these settings in it and load them ingame. not sure if it'd work though.
EDIT: Yes it works.

cool, so i just make a bunch of tracerx.cfg files with different settings and in game type in "exec tracerx.cfg" and it should override the previous settings? or is there another way?

I made a "tracers.cfg" with whatever settings, exec tracers.cfg in console, bam, new tracer effects. You can put the settings into your autoexec.cfg to have them always come up the same.

Mind uploading please?

I'm at work right now, but it's real easy to make.
Copy and paste:
traceroffset 100
tracerlength .35
tracerred 1.3
tracerblue 0.1
tracergreen 0.7
traceralpha .45
tracerspeed 7100
Into a blank TXT file, save the TXT as a CFG and name it whatever you like.
Edit those numbers per desired effects. Personally I like white tracers moving slowly, but these settings are yellow and normal speed. My scripts are at home.

Is there a way to make them thinner?
