WIP - dod_Jello (working title)

I have been working on this map for about a week. It is another city map (sigh) but I wanted to make a city map with really tall buildings. Is it historically acurate? Probably not.

r_speeds: The highest I have seen is about 650. I have not begun using hint brushes though, so it should come down a little bit, then again I need to add more detail (mostly in terms of cover).

Objectives: So far none. It will probably be a 3 flag capture map, but I might mess around with other things.

Give me some feedback!!! (Also name ideas would be nice)

edit- I suppose I should give credits. Texture are by a buttload of people. Kamikazi, Kleinuka (sp?), Blazeer, DoD Team, Mikezilla, probably more. The final version will have full credit in the read me.

I have a suggestion. Don't really bother with using HINT brushes, they won't really help all that much now, and may even make r_speeds worse for you. I suggest just being sure to use a -full VIS and combine it with the use of the NULL texture. Basically NULL deletes a face from the compile entirely...just make sure the player would never see that part. It really comes in handy and can take a high r_speed area down to acceptable levels. Try it out and see.

Buildings way too big (scaled) and lacks detail.

yeah, it really lacks detail, also that ugly tree is misplaced :p try one of xerent's trees. But you did a good job for so little time ;)

Actually, every brush I make starts out completely textured in NULL. Than I just texture the visable faces.

I am still toying with the models and stuff

edit- which tree do you mean? The dead one or the pine tree?

here is new picture. Added another tree and some rain. I think I am going to tone down the light a bit, make it bit darker.

put something like foliage behind that fence, make the map immersive as much as possible, without blank space into the sky. A skyline of brush or buildings is always more aesthetically pleasing to look at.

I made a quick overview so people could see the layout. I should have a beta release in a couple of days. I only have a couple things left to do.

omfg. I thought this was a new thread. Went through it and saw people saying, "Wow looks beautiful!!" when all I could really think was "FIX YOUR TEXTURES!!!!" and wondered why he was giving credit to the textures when (although that is very considerate) nowadays those textures are extremely commonplace and the majority of people don't know who the texturers were.

Makes me wonder what happend to this "beautiful" map, now... and what it's called.

Mods, for the love of god (gawd?), please close this thread.
