The rear peep sight looks really dark, like a black hole is just modeled there.

The metal looks a bit odd to, may try it out in game

That's not a "mess up" line. That's a problem with the model. It has a place right there where you can see through it. :(

As for the transparency on the aiming sight, I tried to make it that way and it just refused to work. I think I've had more transparency problems than anyone.

yay i just found that out right now when playing kalt, (stupid steam), but still sexeh never the less. A little white line through the rifle isn't too bad

I mean, I tried making the hole red. Made red the last color in the palette, saved it. Imported it in HLMV, wasn't transparent, clicked the transparent box, still wasn't transparent.

Drove me nuts, so I just released as is.

A cross between the FOVed and un-FOVed one would be perfect for me, but I'm awkward! :D

And here goes my garand reload sound... ;)

This one does have fov adjustments, however they are much less than you are probably used to if you use the default Garand. I plan on never touching the fov on this thing again, as I'm happy with it, and in the end that's all that really matters. I may fix the little "hole" in the model if it starts to bug me though, probably when I get around to making p and w models for it.

Nice garand. I think the garand looks better w/o FOV. This would look sweet w/ a sling :D

Trigger
11-29-2003, 08:52 PM
If there is a custom Garand with a sling around post a link and I'll gladly attach it to this Garand.

i have never seen one on 1.0+ , i was assuming u knew how to do it :( didn't marzy do one for his tommy gun?

Trigger
11-29-2003, 10:39 PM
I know how to do it, that's not the problem, if there isn't a Garand out there with the proper animations, it makes it more complicated. I don't do animations for DoD, so if they don't already exist, I'm out of luck.

Did any of the beta Garand's have slings? If so, maybe I can use one of those, I've got every DoD from b1.0 to... v1.0.

Trigger
11-29-2003, 11:06 PM
Ok, I reinstalled 3.1 and sure enough, there was a sling. I now have two options: Assign my Garand and the 1.0 hands to the 3.1 skeleton, or attach the sling to the 1.0 animations.

The first method is the easiest, although doing the hands would be a bit tedious. The only problem with that is the 3.1 animations are a bit unpolished compared to the new anims.

If I was to attempt the latter, combining the old sling with the new animations, it would require extensive qc hacking, which though I have never attempted before on such a scale, I believe I can accomplish.

To be honest, the challenge of the second one is enticing enough to make me want to try it regardless.

Someone emailed me a fixed metal texture that has the transparency working.

So I updated the zip file with the new version which now has a hole in the sights. :)

Canuck - thanks for the mirror! Could you redownload the zip file and update it, since transparency now works? I'd appreciate it!
