I thought I'd post these here; I'm sure some of you already have something similar...these replace the main dod flags with politically incorrect (but historically correct) flags; My old version had the 50 star US flag; the new one is 48 stars.

Nice. It's been done but nice i guess. It's not my cup of tea, but you put effort into it apparently so kudos to you.

What I don't get is why the DoD team still use those ugly rectangular flags? Everything else has been bumped up and made to look more realistic... yet we still have those silly rectangle flags that "wave" back and forth?

I for one, use MaRzY's war torn realistic flags. They own. :D But then again, I'm all for realism. Heh.

Marzy's are good, but the swastika alone on the red background is the Nazi party flag, and not the battle flag.

Not like that, I mean Marzy's flag with the edges themselves tattered, like the edges of the Iwo Jima flags look today. I'll see if I can find a pic.

as modelers you really should know the reason we have such crappy flags rely on the fact the more bones and animations there are the more fps it takes. as for the textures sucking, well thats just because the dod team wanted neat flags instead of battle torn flags everywhere. you ask me there should be neat and torn flag submodel.

you know what i thought about that can be really cool ?
making a sprite that when a flag being capped for the first time you see the natino's flag goes up to the top... no idea if it can be done but it will be super cool ;]

and another thing... a normal cap is a neat flag, but after each nation capture a specific flag twice it will become torn :P (cause of the battles and stuff aye ?)
just a nice thought.

the funny thing is, if a mapper got bored he could do that already :D

I've not seen any 256x256 low res war torn flag skins, but this link http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3351&highlight=flag has some nice skins that fit the default flag, that might intrest you.

Marzy, those textures have to be resized by 1/2. The standard flag texture for 1.0 and up is 128 X 128.

If anyone IS resizing them in PSP, be advised that it's better to increase the color depth to 16 million first, then decrease it back to 256 after resizing; otherwise it'll come off looking real pixelated.

You want have to resize anything, if you download the 256 flag set, using the link provided in the same thread as the textures. This will give you the default flag model, that will take the 256x256 textures.
