**Originally release for 1.1, but they work just fine :) **

Well some of u may remember a small bunch of crosshairs i made for 2.0 - 3.1 (anyone? *crickets*). i got some good feeback on them and personally i liked em. So needless to say i was quite happy to have an opportunity to offer them up again (although missing that secksy swinging action :( ) So here u go, enjoy!

That's right folks step right up, test your strength its the new and improved Dinty Moore Stewed crazy crosshair Discount Warehouse!!!! Check the wares ladies and gentleman and drool all u like but there is sure to be more on the way. Take em for a test drive ABSOLUTELY FREE!!! [/nostalgia]

Ok enough jibba jabba - here is a picture displaying my (1st?) 1.3 customxhair pack

Picture of icu's 1.3 Selectable Delectable DoD Crosshairs (http://home.comcast.net/~smackerals/icuDoDxhairs11.jpg)

Like what u c? It's ok if u don't :( but why not take em' for a test drive. What have u got to lose?

Important Saftey Instructions:

To use:

-Go into your Steam folder all the way in till u reach your "dod" folder.

-u may need to create a folder named "sprites"

-insert "customxhair.spr" into this folder

It's location should look something like this-

c:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\youremail@isp.com\Day of Defeat\dod\sprites\customxhair.spr

-now while ingame hit the console "~"

-type the command "cl_xhair_style #"

-replace the # with a . . . err number from 1-16

-easy peezy lemon squeezy
________________________________________
(now there are scripts around that let u quick switch between custom xhairs, but I have no use for them - I will however post one below)

Here's the breakdown (they are in the most logical order for me)-
Left to right like a book mon!

1. Red 3.1 Omega Cross ---> so u would type "cl_xhair_style 1"
2. Blue 3.1 Omega Cross
3. Red 3.1 Super Cross
4. Blue 3.1 Super Cross
5. Green Omega2! New and improved for 1.3
6. Red Omega2!
7. Green 3.1 Omega Cross (why not?)
8. Green 3.1 Super Cross (why not indeed)
9. Blue Omega2! (On Special!)
10. Red Dot
11. Blue Dot (1 Fish 2 Fish . . .)
12. Green Dot
13. Red 3.1 OG!
14. Blue 3.1 OG!
15. Green 3.1 OG!
16. BONUS! Similar to a popular FA crosshair - if requested i can provide blue and green versions of this in exchange for a few others - but the red is a good introductary model

Omega is a fan favorite from way back when - thus it's taking up a bunch of slots - + the OMEGA2 raises the BAR ;)

Super Cross One of my favs, great for rifles

Dot Cmon' gotta have a dot handy eh?

OG i've missed the standard 3.1 crosshiar sooo much, luv it still but without the swingin' it's just not the same :(

BONUS Had an xtra space so let's introduce a new un' (can't take credit for the design tho - i think some chap named Dex did em for FA)

Hope they work out for u and your whole family, any crits or suggestions welcome and we can do custom work.

-icu

**Pesonally i prefer my xhairs 'blurry' - Darling was nice enough to let me know about

vid_d3d "1" (or "0" to shut it off)
^ this will make any xhair much more sharp (almost neon in some cases) - a good option to know
now go go go

do these sprites expands and come back the way the regular corsshair sprite do?

icu
11-19-2003, 11:15 AM
No sorry :( No animation available for custom xhairs at current.

If u want expanding and contracting xhairs use the standard or a 1.0 xhair like http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1526 these

To switch to default or your dodcross.spr simply enter "0" as your xhair of choice. i.e. "cl_xhair_style 0"

and

u get 16 for the price of 10! That's like getting 6 free!

Chx guys. Yeah no sway = sad day - too bad i loved that swingin' thingin'

i believe some other guys made sets with each gun represented prior to 1.0. i could try giving that a go, but we'll have to c. As far as switching from one to the other there are several scrips around. i'll "steal" one and post it for the people.

I really love the red dot cross you've made for 1.0, but now with Steam it doesn't look that good (see picture). Are you planning to convert/fix it or work on new dynamic xhairs for Steam?

icu
12-22-2003, 10:05 PM
Wow, comparison photos and everything ;), Hmm, sorry bout that bud. i'd be more than happy to fix it if i knew what the problem was (personally i don't use the dynamic xhair anymore). i c the difference and it does seem faded and such.

So, that 1.0 pic is not from Steam? i havn't heard of it, but perhaps Steam (or 1.1) messed with the sprite blending? If u or anyone else has an idea why this happened let me know and i'll do what i can.

As far as the dynamic . . . i've kind of abandoned that as the possibilities are so limited. i'm happy with my non-dynamic ones for now (tho i'd love to c a return of that swinging action) - If u have an idea for one i'll throw it together for u. :D

Spoonman
12-23-2003, 04:55 AM
the crosshairs don't work for me. when i press the key i bound, it changed the crosshair, but it won't change to the others. I did everything i was supposed to

Spoonman
12-23-2003, 07:23 PM
it started working :O except they're all blurry, and the 3.1b crosshair is off-centre

icu
12-24-2003, 07:27 AM
*edit I have since found out (thanks to Darling . . . what a darling eh? ;) that 'vid_d3d 1' sharpens the heck out of the crosshairs so gogogo.
As far as the 3.1s being off centre - I had the bar 1 pixel higher - I have since lowered it back down so if you prefer this look d-load and replace)

Ack don't post such things! Posts like that scare away the customers! (if u have tech issues PM me and i'll c what i can do)

As far as them being blurry, you're the 1st to complain of such a thing (i've had no such problem) As far as the script, it's not mine.

*try "vid_d3d 1"

We guarantee our work - don't know why they'd be blurry? PM me and we'll direct u to the Customer Service Dept.

- What resolution are u running at? What is your gl_spriteblend setting?

Spoonman
12-24-2003, 10:21 PM
1024x768. There is no 'gl_spriteblend' setting in my config?

Oh and i wouldnt guarentee your work :P

Capt. Darling
12-25-2003, 06:21 PM
icu: the 1.0 pic is from WON and I do suspect that Steam screwed up the sprite blending somehow. Anyway, my question about the dynamic crosshairs was mostly out of curiosity as I'm happy with the static ones myself. Thanks for offering your help and all but you might as well just keep working on your new pack, I'm pretty curious about that too. :)

By the way, Spoonman, the crosshairs should look exactly as in the preview pic. If they don't then there's something wrong with your settings.

Hey man it's cool. If i figure out anything i'll let u know.

For those of you NOT having far out problems with these for w/e reason.
