Question concerning replacing models

Say I want to replace my M1 Carbine model with my reskinned one from 3.1...if I overwrite 1.0's v_model for the carbine, will it still have the 1.0 sleeves and hands?

All this talk about submodels has me confused if the sleeves and hands are seperate from the weapon model.

Not sure though.

1.0 hands will not carry over.
