3.1 Tommy clip version

I've made another edit to the 3.1 tommy i released a few days back http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21081 , The edit came about when i was looking at BruTaLiz@tioN WIP thread about a new skin for the model http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21154 . I noticed he had made the clip look like it had holes in, and thought it looked good. But the only problem was it looked empty all the time, apart from the bullet you see resting in the top of the clip, when putting a fresh clip back in. So with using 8 more polys 2 bones and another skin, i came up with this. When the reload anim plays and you pull your clip out it looks empty, but when you put the fresh clip in it looks full, because you can see the brass shells showing through the holes in the clip.

But im a little confused, marzy, isn't it just what bruta was working on ? same clip, the holes thingy... no?

Like i said the idea came about, when i was looking at BruTaLiz@tioNs new skins he's making for the model. But in order for me to make and test the clip looking empty and then full, i had to make similar edits to polygons skins, and also make a new skin for the clip to change. So this is my version using polygons skins, and when BruTaLiz@tioN picks up on this thread, i'm sure we will see a re-release using his skins. So at the end of the day the community has a choice of Polygons or BruTaLiz@tioNs skins to go with this model, now that can't be a bad thing...:). If BruTaLiz@tioN would of released his skin with the normal model, then the clip would look empty all the time, so i made the edits to the model to get the best out of his skin. Because the clip is different on this model, it uses two skins, instead of one, and is animated to change the clip from looking empty to looking full, by the use of 2 extra bones.

And thanks to all that have posted comments.....:), by the way has anyone seen this method used in any other game, or is it a first, as i've never seen it before.

i got the idea of holes after seeing nomad & polygons tommy, that has holes in the clip also

No not the skin as such, i mean animating one side of the clip to make the holes look empty and then full, by showing the shell cases through the holes, by using 2 skins rather then just one.

It's just i can't say i've ever noticed this being used in any other game or weapon model i've seen, and just wondered if anyone else had.

I must say though for the effect to work at it's best, you need to be using origins that don't show to much of the clips side. when playing all the animations, except the reload one.

Anyway get your skin released we have been waiting long enough.......:)
