WiP: Trench Map

Okay, my mate wanted to get seriously into mapping and he decided to make a trench warfare map. Being pretty much a noob at it I helped him get started (as I have a basic understanding of mapping). So as a result we are making the map based on the 1st Infantry Divisions breakthrough into Germany (shortly after the destrucion of Uslter?)
It will feature:
- Fuzzdad's 88 cannon with ejecting shells
- 2 mortars that use shells
- German Tank
- Unique 'over the top' styled gameplay
- Six flags (5 needed to win)
- High mortar accuracy (that will be featuring in the new charlie)
- Detailed terrain to hide in
- Rain (both as water and artillery shells)
So far we have the basic design down pact and probably have a beta in a few weeks.

yeah .. but it sounds lika a great idea ..
cant wait to be in the trenches waiting to die :D

Sounds good just don't make the 88s and mortars too powerful :)

Thats why people don't post "WIP" unless they have actually done work. If every forum user's ideas were posted, we'd be cluttered. This is pointless basically. Good idea....but....whats the point?

I have an idea for a map every day and i scratch it the next day. Got a question hows ur flags going work????

are the flags going to be worked so that if one side captures a certain area of the trench network it will effectivly become capped as one of the objs?
Once I've done with the maps I'm working on I've got an idea for trench map with a nice little no mans land in it that could work nicely ;)

It is in the works but my mate is current working on it and it isn't quiet ready for a few screens (looks a bit bland at the mo)

Caught up with Cpl. Bryson (co-mapper) and got the following done (as well as workin on my player models):
- Added the 88 Flak in the artillery bunker
- Changed Flak damage from 200 to 400 and kept spread the same
- Added the 1st Allied mortar and shells
- Changed Mortar spread from 64 to 128
- Added puddles
- Added new terrain
- Cleaned up sandbags and made them destroyable (they still need work though)
- Added Fuzzdad's destroyable barrels (for the fun of it)
- Fixed problems with exiting spawn point
- New MG bunker for axis
- New guard tower
- Added random objects around map (eg trees, bodies, weapons)
Things to fix:
- Buggy new mortar sound
- "Ghosting" of sandbags (some bags disappear but when u shoot where they r, they suddenly appear)
- Rain. At the mo I removed it because of crashes so I'll get a good FGD (if I can find one) and put it back in.

But we know that's not the reason for the rain not working :)
Meaning: The rain crashing the map has nothing to do wth the fgd, it's just DoD at fault.

yeah i was gonna edit my post to add that point today, kinda had to rush out to see matrix last night :D

Hey, just got back from a camping trip...
I'm currently using ur FGD AngryBeaver but some reason rain doesn't work on mine and works on Cpl. Bryson's. I haven't talked to him yet but I'll see him tomorrow. More then...
Also a note: This map may be delayed due to v1.1 as I still haven't connected to Steam due to my 56k download limit.
