Sten mk.5

I'd really like to see a sten mk.5. I was hoping that someone would've gotten around to releasing this a while ago...but it seem to have faded away rather quickly.

I've heard that some people was working on one, but as I said above...no sign of it. No progress updates...nothing.

So, I thought I'd request it and hopefully someone will pick up on that.

Thanks.

Marzy's got one.

Its animated and UVMapped he's just having problems finding someone to skin it.

I'm sure there are plenty of people around here that would be willing to give it a shot, perhaps he just needs to ask.

Is your sig from a movie Jed? If it is I believe I should give it a look.

yeah that's exactly what I was talking about.

If the only issue at hand is to get it skinned why can't someone with some time on their hands and the expertise to skin just wrap up something quick? I mean, it doesn't have to be stunning. I think that if theres one out there eventually someone will reskin or touch up the existing skin.

It's just a shame to see good models go to waste.

I don't really know if it's possible or not, but wouldn't it be quite easy to use existing metal and wood skin "patches" and use them on the model?

I mean, Dillinger is a master on wood and I'm sure we have some metal experts aswell around these parts...to get their "go-ahead" shouldn't be too much of a chore, I think. That is if my suggestion is even possible at all.

i made a sten Mk5 a while back. Tow varients, one with a bayonet the other without.

Had a version with a foregrip too but couldn't find an animator so I scraped it. Might be able to find them at the DoD editing centre if you want summat to bind you over till marzy does his.

Well Marzy modelled it and between us we animated it. I did the primary hidden face removal and UV Mapping (its 3 512x512 textures) and its a working compiled v_model.

Poly said he would skin it but Marzy has been in contact with him and he's been really vauge and non-commital.

Maybe Marzy should see if anyone else wants a go.

My only concern would be tonality. I've seen a lot of guns skinned recently which are really over shiney and dont match the overall tone and contrast of DoD as a whole.

Yes the Sten Mk5 project has really been bugging me of late, i've started to hack a skin onto it for now, and looks like i will release it when finished. I will also include the original meshes with the release, so if anyone would like to make a new skin they can.

You, Trp. Jed and a few others are definitely my favorite custom stuff creators on this board.

This post is a small token of my affection to all the numerous hours you've all spent making stuff for this community.

I don't know what to say besides thanks.

So thank you.

P.S I will wait patiently for it to be finished then :), until then I'll try out Ska Wars.
