Ok I have the best crosshair for DoD... I don't remember where I got it, but its awsome....

I need someone to convert it to v1.0 tho

cause I tried to replace it and it won't work

So if someone would please take the time to make this sprite compatible with v1.0 , we would all thank you..

This sprite makes long distance shooting a breeze!!!

heres the pic:

and here is the sprite itself:

Ok I tell you guys what....

I'll host any files you have for custom DoD files if I can get someone to convert this sprite for me...

I need it bad...

So if you want hosting for free, I'll do it my clan owns there own dedicated servers, so we have plenty of space...

i dont think it CAN be done......yet

Yea I agree with Shade of Gray. I think the formating for the crosshair is different than beat 3.1 ....WHenever the dod team releases something to convert these, I can make the crosshair for u. Ive made TONS of crosshairs for beta 3.1...remember my thread with the mass release of crosshairs? ;)

That crosshair is one of the many excellent creations of Mercatorn.

I used it myself and was about to request that sprite too. Thanks for making this thread.

However, I don't think they have a way to duplicate the sway as of yet.

Well its no big deal to me if it sways or not.... I just want to use the crosshair... I love the shape of it, it makes it much easier for me to aim with, I was never a big fan of the cross style crosshairs.

So if anyone can get me a crosshair that looks like that, it would be appreciated.

:D

Hrm... in that case where the center can't move would it be possible to make the little lines on the outside of the crescents function like the v1.0 as a compromise to let us know when it's settled?

I suppose there's a multiple of possibilities there. Having the lines move away from the crescents or extend the lines a little bit and have that bit move away to indicate sway instead could work as well without ruining the look of the crosshair.

The movement is supervluas anyway. I just need this crosshair, non-moving.

Ev!L LOBO
05-05-2003, 09:11 PM
Ok so can anyone just create a crosshair thats exactly like that only without the 3.1 movements???

Can't anyone create that crosshair, only have the outer lines move in and out like 1.0 has it and just keep the littel dot in the middle stay still, instead of swaying like it did in 3.1??

That is the best sprite ever, and someone needs to recreate it for 1.0

I'm sure theres tons of peeps that want to use it again.....:D

It can't be done, sorry. The way the new sprite is drawn, there's just not enough space for the little bits that rise up.

Ev!L LOBO
05-06-2003, 01:17 AM
That sucks...

I read on DoDHQ that you can only use a cross shaped crosshair... and that really blowz..

I hope the DoD team fixes this so we can have custom crosshairs again.....

So there is no way at all that somone can have a non-moving crosshair, that is pretty much just a dot with some semi circles around it, ie ones that every single other game has.

Thanks dod team. A massive cross blocking your long shots is just the thing we need.

I made this...

not exactly like 3.1 but kinda close. Obviously you can avoid having any part off the crosshair moving by turning of the dynamic crosshair thingee.

I hope they alter how the crosshair works so we can have more control over our cross hairs....the mirroring of the verticle and horizontal lines in particular is quite annoying.

: )

Cheers, you dont have to host it but thanks for the offer : )

It should be in your mailbox.

One thing though, i think it looks heaps better when dynamic crosshairs is disabled as the crosshairs change size with different weapons when that crazy function is enabled.

Heres an example...
http://www.angelfire.com/apes/mcorangutan/crosshairvariation.gif

With dynamic on the variation in the size of the crosshairs for each weapon makes creating a goodlooking crosshair a bit rough.

Thats wierd.. how come you can make a crosshair with the lines but not the -( . )- like in the crosshair I wanted??

I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just wondering lol.

btw I'm still looking for someone to hook this crosshair up if and when they can.... (see attachment)

the -( . )- one not the cross looking ones btw.... hehehehe!

heres the sprite itself to just in case

thanks

Well, now that some very clever people have figured out how to change the useable area, the last obstacle is the fact that the two verticle bits aren't mirrored. It's just copied and pasted exactly on either side. So, instead of it being this:

-( · )-

It would actually be this:

)- · )-

Or this:

-( · -(

urseus

Why has the team screwed over such a simple part of this game.

All some people want is a smallish crosshair like the one the thread starter had, that doesnt move, and doesnt get in the way of your shots.

ahhhhh ok I understand... I think... I don't make crosshairs so I'm not sure how it works.

So what your saying is when you create a crosshair your only making one side of the crosshair like this:

-(

so then when you compile it its shows like this:

-( )-

that what you mean by them being mirrored???

but now DoD is not using the mirror effect but simply a cut and paste type of way so that one side looks exactly like the other without them mirroring??

But if this is the case how come some people can make circle crosshairs??

couldn't you make this one a circle but have the center parts transparent?? so the final product looks like this:

=DD=Wolf Kahler
05-07-2003, 08:08 PM
The one that's got a circle is just a circle. It's not dynamic. The guy expanded the area around the center dot using the coordinates in some TXT file or other so far that he could put a circle in. It does not, however, move.

There's an other clever one that can make a little tiny circle, which is dynamic. But that's drawn in such a way that it doesn't -need- to be mirrored, because its bits are symetrical and don't need mirroring. It's a bit cluttered, though, and doesn't seem all too condussive to precision long-distance shots.

Damn you dev team for screwing up my crosshair... so far the crosshair is the only complaint I have about v1.0

So if they fix that it will 100% w00t!!!

So.... could someone make it like this --( . )--?

With the very end -----> - being the only mirrored part so it could move and the
-( . )- being fixed so it wouldn't have to be mirrored?

*BUMP*

just cause I want everyone to work there hardist to find a way to make this sprite......

:D

There has to be a way to do it, cause theres a way to do anything... and I'm sure if someone messed with it enough they'd figure a way to make it work for 1.0.

I have confidence in you all.....
