If i have a model of a garand lets say, and the garand have a wood texture of 256x256 (could be any number) and i have a diffrent texture with a diffrent size, how do i switch between them ?
I know that jed's HLMV can import textures and i already worked with it, but i can only play with the textures if they are in the same size.
What to do ?
P.S
No matter if the texture will be too big or not inplace.
Thanks.

You decompile the model and load up the main reference.smd file for the model into milkshape. Then using the texture tab, swap the texture for the new one, then export this as a halflife smd file over the original, and compile the model, making sure your new texture is in the same folder as the decompiled model.

Resize the texture to that size :P works for me. i use psp7
open up HLMD, import texture over the one you want, and save model.

The whole idea is to have it in high resolution and i mentioned it in the post.
Marzy i don't have a texture tab in Milkshape, can you be more specific ? :o

Sorry the materials Tab then...:).....you will see your list of skins in there, click on the one you want to change, and then on the button where the name of your skin is showing, and change it for your new one.

You don't even need Milkshape sor something that simple. All you need to do is decompile, replace the original texture with the new one, and recompile. As long as it has the same name as the original texture it should compile with no problems.

You're using the wrong decompiler, download the one in the modeling faq stickied in this forum.

Thank you very very much.
I thought Milikshape compiler is the same.
In the last week i have learned so so much about Models and stuff.
I Know how to reskin and recolor, how to get textures in and out, how to compile/decompile, how to use animations from one model to another and also learned some stuff about the QC files.
Maybe soon i will start to create my own models though making a brand new texture still seems a distant vision :-P
Huge thanks for every1.
