Map Idea(s) for v1.1

Okay heres the idea:
Create a Para style map based off the raid on St Nazaire using a real tactical map. It will feature:
- Submarines
- An airraid with AA fire
- Low level lighting to create the suspense of the real things
- Advance spawn interface
- Non-linear gameplay

I'm probably not going to do this map at the mo but if anyone wants to start a recreation of this famous raid, feel free. I also have some other maps from a few British mission. They include:
- Operation Market Garden (plus pic of Mk V Sten)
- Operation Frankton (attack plan and escape map)
- Pic from the raid at Dieppe

Sounds like a good idea to me ...
but it will be HARD to build and oys probably to big :D

This map would be great for dod2.
Can't see how you can have at the same time "Advance spawn interface" and "Non-linear gameplay" at the same time though.
No offence but why don't you start to learn mapping to see by yourself the engine limits?

I've thought of making a subpen map, though not nearly this big. More along the lines of the MoH one.
well i have a german submarine model part done if anyone plans to contact me to pick up along with ref pics.
and just out of intrest why was your map idea too special to go into the "mapping ideas thread"? pay attention plz :P

Sorry Angry Beaver! I've been a bit out of mapping for while but I found this stuff when I was searching through my files the other days. Yeah I know it might be a bit big but hey it's worth a try if anyone is interested. But as you said Angry Beaver, I'll chuck it in the Ideas thread...
Mythic Kruger: I do know the limits as I've tried mapping before and hence stopped because of the limits (i've never finished any of my work though). I reckon this is possible even though you would have to cut down alot.

The raid on St. Nazaire lacked an airborne component.
The objective was to disable or destroy the dry dock so that it could not be used to repair german battleships like the tirpitz.
I think it would make a good attack and defend map. Maybe if some map triggers were added, like the ship that rammed the dockwall crashing into it and then it exploding or something. Amongst other things.

Kampfer exactly what I mean!! A ship ramming into it would be excellent but when I was talking about AA guns, they weren't shooting down transport aircraft but the bombers attacking the docks to the west of the subpens. I REALLY wish DoD2 would come out because it would allow for vehicle support which would fit perfectly into this (eg Motorcycle patrols, AA Guns to shoot down planes and get points, patrol boats and of course the Frigate)
