Alright everyone, here it is, the beta version of dod_landschaft, i am releasing it as a beta because i dont have time to set up a closed playtest right now
Anyway, i am aware of a few bugs in the map (none of which are major) but i would like everyone to post any bugs and gameplay sugguestions you might have for the map
As this is a beta, there is no overview and no .txt document, just the files needed to run the map

Note: Right-clicking and selecting "save target as" seemed the only way for me to get it to download.

It looks good, and I'll consider it for the server once I have time to run through it, but I'm curious, just how "beta" is it?
Meaning, do you expect to update it again and how soon?
If you'd like to do some playtests of the map, let me know, I can get you a lot of assistance to making this a better map.

I am calling it a beta because i did not want to have what happend with hill_classic again, i want to get all of the bugs out before making it a final, that is the only reason it is a beta
I knew of a few bugs before releasing it as a beta but they are nothing major and have been fixed since i released it, now i am wiaitng on the bug reports from people playing it

I just finished scouting it.
one word: W-O-W.
First of all i wanna say the bunker area is the most amazing bunker area ever made, Such an amazing textures and everything is so... DAMN looks so good !
I like the open field fighting, it's a kinda diffrent style than the typical dodish but i think you need to have both.
The church area i think is a little too close to the spwan but i liked the place.
The bridge at the start is Really cool, everything in that map is damn good looking.
Gameplay should be great.
No doubt, one of the best map releases around lately, maybe even this year. GFJ !

I was going to have an alternate rout out of each spawn but i hit the clipnode limit so i could not make enough solid objects to do so . . .

Great Map! For some reason custom mapping seems to be at a standstill, with 1.1 coming and steam causing hammer problems up the ying yang.
Its refreshing to see a map like this, it reminds me (not in a negative way) of Happyernst's "dod_normandie", for 3.1b, the look and feel.
Whats next for you? Any other WiP's??

I might do a dod beach map and maybe one more then im gonna stop map[ping for hl till hl2 is out, im getting sort of borred with hl mapping
I am also working on a map for the ut2003 mod red orchestra and i am a mapper for the last great war mod for hl2 so i dont have much interest left in hl mapping right now

This map wouldn't perchance happen to have waypoints for sturmbot included would it? Its the only way I can play since I have a satellite connection (fast download speeds, but can't play Fps games online).

Ill probly have them in the final release but no, there are none in the beta . . .
wow NC u've been MIA for quite a while. Now after this one you gotta finish the beach map and caen classic. also, cant wait to see ur mapping skills on RO... :D

Get yer Sturmbot Waypoints (http://www.sturmbot.net/pafiledb/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=336) here. It's difficult to play against the bots, they really like to shoot through the walls :\ maybe you could make them impenetrable?

That is odd, i dont know why they ignore the sky brushes like that . . .
It must be a bug with sturmbot . . .

Well, i must be doing something right, this is my second map to make it onto custom kettle, out of 2 maps that i have released for dod :)

Now, to get to work on a beach map . . . ;)
I've downloaded the map yesterday and it has an impressive size! But that's all about it...
It's too empty, no details, strange light fx (red light within the church?!?!), an ugly textured waterfall, dead zone water, unkillable cows ect.
Sorry, but you could make much more out of it if you really want to.
But, there is a very interesting feature: You have to walk long distances to reach the locations. This is a good idea, because it will give teams a chance to REALLY cooperate by checking locations, using the (imho never used) tactical map and creating some kind of bridge heads.
Hm...
I hope you can invest much more time into this map for a really good and playable release version.

Couple things.. one I went to prime nades near the passage to axis bunker, makeshift tree wall an lost the nades underneath. Guess they fall off the map or something cause I never saw the flash or percussion.
Then your mortars.. you got some kind of fancy with those? Hill.. wasn't bad because we could threatin them with a ban if they touched them but these are consistant. How can you humanly sit there an listen to that non stop? Stopsound doesn't even hold it off long enough.. even possibly make them as sets along the routes. Please consider this.. its my the only buzz kill on the map. :rolleyes:

I will double or triple the time it takes for the mortar triggers to reset

Thanks.. look forward to the next beta..
One other thing, not sure if you noticed it right off.. but coming out of allie spawn for some reason you get stuck in the triangle clip. The spot before the small bend.. you can manuver out but definately needs a look..

Sometimes those areas where you get stuck can't be fixed very easy, compiling can sometimes do werid things :(
