Easiest to do: Mapping or modeling?

Now I know coding is the hardest I think, but what about these two? I've been feeling bored recently and was thinking of quite possibly trying to model or map. Can someone tell me what they think is easier, and what programs I would need, etc.? Mapping doesn't seem all that hard, but I'm sure I am just overlooking it.
building the structure of the level isnt that hard, but keeping the r-speeds low, and all the entities and junk are.

Can you go into more detail on the r-speeds, and that entity stuff. I think I am getting interested.
Also, what programs will I need?

I've tried modelling, mapping, skinning, and sound production, and to me at least, modeling is the most intuitive and easy. But it differs from person to person.

Mapping is more fun but in my opinion its harder..
omf skinning is easiest but modelling compared to mapping... modelling is easier its still pretty confusing but you get used to it eventually and mapping is just confusing as hell when you have to add lighting and making stairs took me weeks to figure it out then when i did i was like OMF I SUX IN TEH MAP DEPARTMENT

I grew up with Modelling, and ill stay with modelling. I can make a decent map with all the basic entities and stuff. But yeah.
mapping has a million and one different aspects and facets to it. modeling is exponetially simpler. now some may disagreee, but when you reach a very high level at both it becomes blatently obvious.
its easy to be a mediocre mapper or modeller mapping is harder but not much if u are aiming for mediocre. but if you want to be greta try modelling cause mapping requires a helluv a lot more effort.
If you want help in eitheir just ask in the right forum and you will be provided, make sure u check the stickies first though :D

Thanks Beaver. I was kind of hoping some rerspected mapper/modeler would come along ;)
Anyway, I got Valve Hammer Edition, and holy crap, I'm so frigging scared. I now will give my highest respect for all of the mappers in this community, especially the DoD Team mappers. I think I might just take a look at modeling.
Actually, 2 years ago when I was really into Jedi Knight 2, I decided to try modeling, but I was damned confused. Maybe I can try it again, or try skinning again other than darkening weapons :D
