Hello all.

Well, its been a bloody long time since I released anything !!!

Not that I'm fed up with DoD or animating - its just that my lifestyle has changed so much and I have alot less time to myself.

Anyway......

I have re-animated the Bren and edited the Model itself :

Model Changes :

I have added the right side of the model (cut away by the DoD Team to reduce poly count) You can see the right side of the gun in some of the animation sequences I have made = this gives it a whole new look ! I also added the Bolt .......

Animation Changes :

I have re-animated the Bren with the bipod folded back.It also takes up less of the screen. Also I have added custom anims to every sequence & used other DoD
sounds within those sequences.

Please, Please Post back here once you have Tested it in game !! I really would like some feedback !

Have I lost my "Touch" ?? :p

Good work Glimmy!

I guess you put the hand on top of the reciever in the prone fire anim for artistic reasons but I confess it niggles at me a bit. Only because I've fired one for real and it wouldnt give you as much support as holding the top of the stock.

But its only a game and its still excellent work. I think this ones going in my models folder :)

Top marks mate! :D

GREAT!

...now just need 2 wait for Dililnger or Brutalization to put their skin on this...

I would do it myself with HLMV, but there prob will still be texture errors...

it's just the sizes of the .bmp's. just resize dill's or brut's to it's default size.

Great work, Glimsharp!

PS - Do not resize the texture to fit this, you'll lose the Hi-res quality! :)

Mine is released with the new animations: http://www.dayofdefeat.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=252036#post252036

I really like the anim's Glimmy there tops, but IMO there are some issues with the overall model. One being that the German sleeve is a normal sleeve model, so if you pick this weapon up playing a German, you end up with half an arm showing on some anim's. The other problem that really bugs me is what happens with the left arm due to halflifes FOV, one second it looks like the arm is way to thin and long, more like a snake, and in the next second it looks way to big. Like the hand gripping the receiver looks way to big and out of perspective. Apart from these issues i think you made a great job of rebuilding the Bren it looks good, and the use of sounds is great aswell, and like i said the anim's are tops.

I have been looking into how you might improve the left arm FOV problem and have come up with this. I've added another left arm model to the model, and scaled it right down so it's more in perspective with the back end of the gun. I have also scaled your full sleeve model and hand so there much bigger. Now I've edited the anim's so the two swap just off screen at the right point in the relevent anim's. But me not being an animator have had to change the way the hand grips the receiver, which was a shame, because if it was edited to like that of your original anim's it would look much better. Anyway the overall look perspective wise IMO looks better.

Pic of overall look (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/scitzo/Bren2arm.jpg)

Pic of the setup (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/scitzo/bren2armsetup.jpg)

I'm sure this method could be tweaked to look better, but for me at least i've proven the concept works.

If you fancied redoing your anim's using this method, then if i was a top animator like you, i would scale the right arm down some aswell, then just use the scaled down arms for holding the receiver and loading the clips, and the oversized arm for holding the bren out in front and putting the bipod up and down.

If you would like to look over what i've done in more detail then let me know and ill email you the model.
