High Quality Pack

10-05-2003, 03:13 AM
This is my first piece of work I'm actually going to release. As you all know I was making a first person WW2 mod called "Call of Duty" but as you know there is now a massive WW2 game by the same name coming out.

But I still have some of my models and sounds lying around so I've decided to put it all together. Here is what it wil feature:
- Sounds from 3.1 which have been through strict hiss and crackle filtering to give high quality sound and greatly improved gaming experiance
- Clearer and louder voice commands for all teams
- Super high poly p and w models
- Improve v_models with high poly hands
- New bullet shells
- Super high detailed player models with individualized faces, eyes, moving mouths, headshot and gut damage. Also classes will be more defined (snipers have scrim on helmet, sargeants have Normandy assualt packs)

Should have first picks soon and sample sounds up tomorrow.

10-05-2003, 03:22 AM
sounds cool :D

10-05-2003, 03:51 AM
I like the sound of this but will it all be possible?

10-05-2003, 04:24 AM

10-05-2003, 03:08 PM
Sounds like a total kickass, i can't wait :)

10-05-2003, 03:10 PM

im interested in these player models you plan on doing... :)

10-05-2003, 06:58 PM
i have to say thats quite the project you've set in front of yourself, more power to ya to get something out

10-05-2003, 08:09 PM
The sounds r ready and I'm testing them today. As for the models, they are still being worked on but I should have a few pics by tomorrow.

Also this is possible. At the moment the new features won't be spectacular but when I get a better brip on animations I will add things such as blinking and new death animations. If u want to help though, just ask!!

10-05-2003, 08:20 PM
Wellity wellity wellity, you've convinced me, I cant wait, i cant wait:D:D

10-05-2003, 08:52 PM
This sounds like it will take a couple of months, and thats if you work fast. If you work at the speed of most everybody here (absolutly no offence to the modlers here) it would take about six months.

But I really look forward to this pack, it sounds great.

Sounds great can't wait for a progress picts....:)

Will keep watch

10-05-2003, 09:32 PM
me poo:D

10-06-2003, 12:13 AM
Well it will take a while but at the moment I'm tackling the easy stuff (eg the sound and world models). As I said earlier I'm testing sounds and they are brilliant!!! Anyone remember the old 3.1 MP44? It's back with a vengance!!

10-06-2003, 03:50 AM
No use telling us about it. Anyone can make a thread telling ppl what they are GOING to do, We need proof, so stop telling us about it and show us that u are actually doing stuff. Once we no you arn't bull****ting us then u can start talkign all u want.

Come on guys give him some credit....
I personally don't think this is Bull***t and

Cause I can' t wait to play with some "new" Player models :D

Keep at It! mumblyjoe! I wootin! I mean rootin for you!!!!!:p

10-07-2003, 07:33 PM
way to be a jerk, reaver. He's only trying to get some support for his project.

joe, if you need any voice acting, I have a professional sound editing program and voice training, I also do some minor reskinning on photoshop. Shoot me a PM if you need me. :)

10-07-2003, 08:13 PM
i cant wait for this:D

10-07-2003, 10:40 PM
I *should* have my first pick from ingame by the end of today. I had a major compiling error yesterday but I've redone some of the polys and it's working better now. The first player to get an upgrade is the paratrooper. So far he has a new face (the US Inf face) but has a working mouth and eyes. His ears have also been redone. After this guy I'll do the US Inf and then do world/player models for a change

Skullz_Vandal, the sounds are all done as I have a full copy of Cool Edit Pro but I might get you to test some out of them as they have been doing wierd things in DoD (even though they are the correct 22500kHz, 16bit format). But I do have a texturing job for u. Check ur pm

10-08-2003, 12:14 AM
im not being a jerk im simply saying that there is no use talking about it with out proof. Once i see some pics i will be supporting him but i'm just saying don't get your hopes up TO much.

10-08-2003, 03:56 AM
Fair enough reaver but I can't post pics at the mo because the thing won't compile. Many other people post threads saying what they are going to do before they take pics. Any, the first pic WILL be up tomorrow okay?

As for skinning, Vandal is going to help.

10-08-2003, 07:24 AM
i use mp40 3.1 sound and it rawks

10-08-2003, 11:04 PM
Yeah the 3.1 sounds are soo sweet but of terrible quality (only 8 bit with a ton of crackle, hiss and popping). They are now crystal clear and a dream to play with but they do cause a heap of lag.

The first pic will be posted in a minute when I compile my first preview of the US-Inf! This isn't completly finished but should be by tomorrow (just waiting for Vandal to finish his skins!)

10-08-2003, 11:11 PM
gimme more info on the skinning job in pm joe.

and sounds should be 8bit for half-life, send me the 16 bit sounds and I'll make them 8 bit for you with little to no distortion. I have a great program for that

10-08-2003, 11:53 PM
I sent ya a PM. Also I'm sure the sounds are 16bit as the DoD v1 sounds are (they are just not 44100kHz)

10-09-2003, 02:31 AM
Okay here's the first pic (the model isn't refined but hey, at least you can see how it's going)

New Sniper with Scrim Netting and Eyes

10-09-2003, 02:36 AM
wow, lookin good. the eyes look a bit unnatural though. looks like someone stuck some glass eyes in his head. But of course it isn't the final product, and i'm sure you can get it lookin right. anyways, good job!

10-09-2003, 04:09 AM
Thanx! Yeah the eyes look odd in Milkshape because of it's shading method but you don't notice it in game too much. Just need to get rid of that annoying square chin!! Well hopefully I'll be releasing this baby soon and it also has a surprise for everyone to find out!!

10-09-2003, 04:34 AM
wow this looks real good, gj:D

Very cool idea :)

although i think you should have posted your WIP a lil later, with progress shots, i can already see the spam coming and the many "is it done?" posts. take your time, looks good so far. jus work on making the eyes more realistic.

10-09-2003, 05:48 PM
I agree with conscript, the general looking good but the eyes need more work.

10-09-2003, 08:18 PM
Thanx guys,
Yeah the eyes are a bit hard to get right. As I said in Milkshape it looks wierd but ingame you don't notice it. I'm going to reduce the texture quality and maybe it should get rid of that glass eye effect. Today I'm also starting on the US-Para, giving them the same heads as the US-Inf but with a few more surprise which I'll reveal at a later date.

10-09-2003, 11:40 PM
Now i will say good job and good luck.

10-10-2003, 04:54 AM
Maybe post an ingame SS so we can see how is it ?

Here we go! Four new pics fresh from the battlelines. Many Sturmbots died in the making of these photos so feel lucky you got to see them!!

1. New Carbine Dude

2. Combat "trio" (Sniper/Bar/Garand)

3. Sargeant's Face

4. Two different Uniforms (Carbine w/o Jacket and MGer with Jacket)

You may notice that the arm patches don't match the uniform but I'm fixing this tonight plus adding a few more extras. Also these are not the final models soon in the pics, the final ones are about to be compiled with higher poly faces, bodies and helmets

Us-Inf Release: NEXT WEEK
Next Job (Starting Tomorrow): US-Para

10-11-2003, 07:07 AM
Okay I've fixed the sleeve and replaced the 3rd Armored Corps badge with the proper Rangers diamond. Heres a pic:

I might have more ingame pics tonight as well so stay around!

10-11-2003, 07:10 AM
That looks awesome Mumbly Joe! I can't wait to see the finished result.

10-11-2003, 07:35 AM
Very cool, but those eyes again :( * * even ingame... :/

10-11-2003, 08:58 AM
more peeps with blue eyes

Dr. Crawford
10-11-2003, 05:49 PM
The eyes do look a little too bright, but otherwise, this is the most interesting model idea/WIP that I've ever seen. I never have been this excited about a model before. :) I love how you added the high poly hands too.

10-12-2003, 06:35 AM
looking good so far:)

how about trying to fix the odd looking dod shoulders ?

anyways goodluck i will be waiting fro these ;)

10-12-2003, 10:33 AM
looks very cool Cant wait to try these

Plastic Fantastic Lover

Problem with eyes:

The default DoD models don't have 3d Eyelids, so you'll have to make some to cover those eyes or everyone will look like Marty Feldman as they do now.

10-13-2003, 09:03 AM
looking good so far... i like the chevrons and the ranger insignia and i hope you give proper rank to each position in the game. it always bothered me to see the models with the one stripe on the jacket, especially the staff sgt whos insignia is much different.

10-14-2003, 04:30 AM
Unfortunatly mate you can't do that on the default models as there is only 5 bodies and only 3 them don't have jackets. The heavy body, which is sometimes shared by the sargeant ranked classes has sargent strips though. Also when I get someone to redo the bone structure for me on the para models I'll do that (as the para models have more equipment slots)

10-21-2003, 02:56 AM
Okay I'm now working on the 101st Airborne and German Inf. I'm not releasing the US Inf yet as there are a few small bugs which I'll probably find a solution for later.

10-21-2003, 07:05 AM
looking forward to some pics of the german models....

10-21-2003, 04:28 PM
you should use the faces from kurt meyers 5th ranger battalion skins instead of the 1.0 american infantry faces... just a suggestion.

10-22-2003, 03:51 AM
I'll take a look at them. Thanx mate!! No pics for Germans though yet as I need to reskin some of the parts.

11-04-2003, 11:34 PM
very very nice
post more pics
was lookin for a pack like this

11-06-2003, 12:24 AM
Still workin on it mate. I just designed new higher poly heads but just need to fix the glicthes.

11-06-2003, 01:35 AM
added u to msn mubley :D
mumbley even

11-25-2003, 12:19 AM
OKAY!!! I have just finished the new heads and I *SHOULD* release this week if testing goes well. The 101st Airborne are goin well, I just need to add the superhipoly heads to them, give them camo and mohawks then yep I'll release. Also I did start on the Germans, so far with a new helmet. No pics yet though...

11-25-2003, 06:35 AM
Donīt forget that custom models wonīt work in 1.1 until a compatible studio mdl has been released.

11-25-2003, 02:01 PM
lol good timing too huh?

tommorow? Or in 8 days?

11-25-2003, 04:15 PM
Models are damn cool, but those pale white eyes just freak the hell outta me.

Maybe you should lower eyelids, or make the eye less noticable by darkenening it or something?

11-27-2003, 12:19 AM
Yeah, I know what yah mean!

Swedish: Those old pics. The new faces have much more facial detail than those. The new ones have:
- Hi poly ears
- Eyelids
- Teeth
- Mouth
- tongue (i think!)

I WILL get pics (and maybe the models) up tonite but right now my net is given me the *****s. Check back here or in the release forum later.

11-27-2003, 05:19 PM
show me the goodness.

11-27-2003, 09:38 PM
Do they actually talk when you say a voice command or something? Also, do you have a CS voicecomm mouth moving thing like some DoD models have?

11-30-2003, 04:53 AM
Okay I FINALLY got the pics. They were supposed to be released today but due to the host's virus scanner being paranoid about .EXE files, they didn't go through (3 hours via my net):

2ltBen: They do have mouths but I can't animate yet so they don't move when you use voice commands.

Also please note: these models ONLY work for WON but I did get DoDv1.1 on Steam yesterday so I'll have a shot at that.

11-30-2003, 09:59 AM
I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!

11-30-2003, 02:27 PM
Wicked joe! oh, and the eyes are fine ;)

11-30-2003, 02:33 PM
looking very sexy indeed. (ok get ready guys) what's the poly count on these sexy beasts?

12-01-2003, 06:30 AM
Man, u gotta love the eyes (they don't make u go crazy anymore!!)

And the poly count, is... pretty high. The class with the most (mger) has about 1300 (might be wrong)

RELEASE THIS WEEKEND (fingers crossed!!)

Thanx for ur support dudes, took its time but hey its worth it! Ohh yes I am gonna make axis but I'm workin on my map for a while.

The eyes are looking good now...I only have some troubles with those mouths...looks like they're pouting.

12-03-2003, 11:08 PM
I'll take a look and see what I can do (may take sometime)

12-03-2003, 11:50 PM
Ya, the lips kinda look like they are puckering up for a kiss. :D

Try to thin them out a bit to make them bit wider. That outta fix it.

12-08-2003, 09:51 AM
bumpity bump i want these models

12-08-2003, 03:38 PM
hey can you please tell me how you get it so when the guy is dead you see the bloody face

12-08-2003, 11:10 PM
If you mean ingame, u shoot him in the face.

If you mean as in how I made it, I got the trick from Pondunkian where you use two extra bonse that flips the normal face around and replaces it with the bloody face when a headshot anim is triggered.
