Use 16 for the most realism

16 is perfect for most walls for houses and such

doh on second reading 16. i thought you meant best gird size to use not wall thickness

I make walls 16, and doors and windows 8.

most building walls i do at 16. most official maps seem to do as well, depending on building of course.

For doors i usually make them 2-3 units thick for realism

You should make them atleast 4, becuase 1 unit is less than an inch.

I have never seen a domestic door over 3 inches thick

Also the fov warping in the game makes anything over 3 units look odd

Here's what I use.

32-Large concrete bunkers
16-Walls
8-Architectural details
4-Tables, doors, and the like.
2-When 1 unit is just too thin.
1-Windows, Illusionaries like bars and railings.
