Heh!
There was an old tool that somebody released here (possibly Nemesis) that could generate seamless textures. Perhaps somebody can dig it up for newer people to use? It'd probably be a better alternative to this if it is indeed that much :~

hmm...i think if you need to resort to using one of these tools you might want to get out of the texture making business.
however...there may be uses for such a tool that a real texture artist might have.
any real texture artists here care to comment? would be nice to get some more useful feedback.

Don't use these kind of tools. They are bad. You have zero control over the whole process.
There's this neat little filter in PS that lets you shift your texture, so that all the sides of the image meet in the center of the picture. So lets say if you accidently put too much shadow on the right side of the texture (256x256) you shift your texture 128px to the right/left and the faulty area becomes visible as you moved the problem spot from the side of the pic, where the problem isnt obvious, to the center where it creates a nice visible seem.
What I then do is paint over the texture to remove any seems or irregularities (pieces that stick out and will look repetitive in game).... if you are too lazy to do that by yourself you shouldn't be texturing.

The one good point about these tools is that someone with very little texturing knowledge but wants unique textures in their map can have what they desire. Although the textures won't be amazing quality, they'll at least be original unlike many other maps currently roaming around.
But if you're serious about mapping/texturing then yeah, these tools are evil. In fact, I think it might have been these tools that stole my soul last year..
Pretty interesting tool but I'm with kleinluka and izuno here. You need to learn make a texture from the scratch without any special tools that does your job done ;)

Perhaps you fellas should email them your judgements. A tool only becomes useful when it has a purpose.
They may push to make it better with support.
